Suspension & AxleTechnical discussions regarding alignment, stock and modified suspensions, lift kits, axles, hub conversions, gearing and steering.
This is a discussion thread titled "2.5" Daystar lift and AAL.. RUINED RIDE??", within the Suspension & Axle forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I have searched and read several posts, but have to get more specific..
I Installed a 2.5" daystar spacer with add-a-leafs in back. My ride quality suffered severely. I don't know about all you, but to me, the smooth ride of my stock tundra was nice to have. Anyone else notice this? It is now a hard, bouncy ride.
If I remove the AAL's, will my rear end sag? Whay about carrying a load (which I do for work) Do the front spacers "pre-load" the spring and amke it that much stiffer?
I am tempted to remove the entire level lift, though I love how it looks. Would upgraded shocks cure my ride woes?
Bottom line: I want that factory lexus-like ride. Not concerned with off-road abilities, but need to carry a load w/ work equip.
The Daystar has 2 pieces, right? part of the spacer is inside the coil pack and another piece is outside the coil pack, right? Honestly, this has been gone over many times. Sure a coilover is the best, but a spacer usually doesn't make the suspension that objectionable. I can see if the entire spacer is inside the coil pack. Then again, the simple fact that you are increasing the a-arm angle itself makes the ride stiffer.
Still, I doubt the front is the problem. I can tell you I added an AAL in the back and there are some parts of the freeway were it bounces pretty good. First thing you should try is remove the AAL and add a block back there, that should get the rear back to normal. If you are worried about sag, seems like airbags are the best bet.
