This is a discussion thread titled "Spacer lift??", within the Suspension & Axle forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
Ok, I decided to do a 3in spacer lift, but I have one question? What is the difference between the spacer kits that you don't need a spring compressor, and the 2 piece ones that you do need a spring compressor(Like the Toytec)? Is there a difference in ride? Is one easier on shocks?
the ones that you dont need a spring compressor for you should avoid. They will put your ball joints at harsh angles! Go with the spacer kits from toytec, revtek, donahoe, daystar any of them are just as good as each other. So go with the toytec like you mentioned. The ride will be a tad stiffer but not too bad.

Thanks, I will go with the Toytec one then. Where can you rent a spring compressor, and is there any special kind?
autozone has them. If i were you i would just remove the coilover from your truck, and take the whole unit to a shop and they will only charge you 30 bucks to swap in the spacers and you just bolt the coilover back up. Its alot safer, i hated to use a spring compressor the time i did! The whole coilover comes out very easy!

Dude, take them to a shop and let them press them for ya. Save yourself the headache of the POS "rental" spring compressor's from the parts store, they barely work at best, and they are extremely dangerous! It will be the best 30 bucks you've ever spent.
