This is a discussion thread titled "2002 tacoma suspension upgrade?", within the Suspension & Axle forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
don't make the same mistake i did! first, how often are you going to utilize this new suspension. and if you question that, you more than likely just want a leveling kit on the front end. AND I DON'T MEAN ONE OF THOSE CHEESY DAYSTAR ONES. i have an 02 taco pre runner: removed front sway bar, installed camburg upper control arms with their 2.5 coilover shocks. the rear end is 05-08 taco setup sway a way rear by pass shocks which require new weld on mounts. plus tons of other stuff i've done that will take too long to type. now i only drive my truck on the weekends, (for gas economy reasons). i drive the wife's 04 carolla. its been 3 years now, so you tell me.... but on a seriors note, if you want to build an awesome tacoma, hit me up, or check out camburg's site or total chaos'. those two are by far the only answer to toyota suspension. later.
So many different ways to "upgrade." It depends on what you want. Do you need a lift for bigger tires? Better ride? Firmer for hauling/towing? Be more specific with your questions.

Excellent point. A guy really has to sort out long term goals for the truck before dropping coin on any suspension modification. I'm in the same boat as you, truck's a DD only because I don't have a second vehicle. If not for circumstance it'd only be driven on weekends to play.
Leadropr, help us help you...whatcha gonna use the truck for? Not all lifts are created equal...all expensive suspension kits aren't even tuned the same way.
480, Aren't you on the desert forum on TTORA? I think I recognize the avatar...but maybe it's somebody else.
