Suspension & AxleTechnical discussions regarding alignment, stock and modified suspensions, lift kits, axles, hub conversions, gearing and steering.
This is a discussion thread titled "info on 3 inch lift", within the Suspension & Axle forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
hi i am a newbie i have a 2006 tundra double cab 4x4 and i am looking what i would have to do to put a 3 inch lift ,what brand of lift, what tire size to go to,will i ruin the ride basically all info also alternatives i saw something about a 1 inch lift also.thanking you in advance
well if you are hell bent and determined to get 3" then I think you're only option is a 3" spacer lift...you would probably have to go with Toytec spacers and add-a-leafs for the rear...but I personally would suggest going less than 3" because you would have way more options to pick from. Going less that 3" (meaning 2" or 2.5") you can get spacers, or bilstein 5100 adjustable shocks, or adjustable coilover shocks...just depends on how much money you are willing to spend.
As far as tire size is concerned you can fit a 33" tire (285) with only 2" or 2.5"...although you will need either aftermarket wheels or wheel spacers if you plan to keep the stock wheels (that's assuming you put a 33" tire on). If you go a little smaller than 33" you won't have to worry about getting new wheels (unless you just want them) or wheel spacers.
And I see that you have a 4x4 so that means that you will need to install a differential drop kit...only like $30 i think...which would need to be installed with any amount of lift you put on your truck.
Hope this helps and good luck

hey bud, if you dont want to go too big, just do the readylift front spacer kit and you can run a 33" tire on it no problem, it is a leveling kit and is 3" tall.
Start with every link, every one, in my signature line. Read it all.
Not every spacer lift is created equal. 3" up will do some pretty bad things to your ride quality and parts if you're not careful.
Know what you're getting in to, with install, ride quality, alignment, and long term wear.
I can probably answer most if not all of your general questions, but please search first...search a LOT, read everything you find. There is a bit of misinformation floating around regarding "preload" and what type of spacer is safe vs damaging, you will find all those discussions readily with the search function but I highly recommend using the advanced search to find the good stuff.
Some possible search terms to get you started: spacer, top load, in-pack, coilover, daystar, truxxx, camburg, IVD, icon vehicle dynamics, king, swayaway, teamwest, limit strap, diff drop, 930 cv boot, leaking boot.
If you want 3-4 in of lift you could get a chaos unibal long travel kit w/fox adjustable shocks, and then get a custom 3" leaf spring lift. Total cost (one arm, two legs $8,000ish depending on setup) You could get the tough country lift kit and go for 4.5" or the RCD kit and go for 6". Total cost (one arm, one leg $4000ish) or get 3" spacer and rear add a leaf which makes your truck ride like a 2.5 ton brick rolling down a hill. Total cost (relatively inexpensive maybe $2000 or less) OR settle for a 2.5" or less. Really the choices are numerous and in the end you have to decide what you really want a lift for... looks or functionality, and just how much jack do you want to spend on it.

try a 3" body lift. I saw one just made perfectly for your truck. Its at suspensionconnection.com and it fits only 06 tundra 2wd/4wd. The brand is Performance Accessories and it costs around $500 and you can fit 33" tires. There's also a Tuffcountry 2.5" suspension lift kit for $250 or 2" front leveling kit for $110 and both fit 32"x10.5" tires
