Default Aurora Monoballs

For anyone with aftermarket upper arms- you think these are the same used in camburg and t/c kits? At $25 a pop you can almost buy 5 for what they're sold for ($120pr).

They don't look the same as what BURG and T/C use, but is similar.

Have you seen monoballs removed from the arms?

Reason why I ask is because I can't imagine a one-inch monoball being made with different size outer races. That could get confyoozin'. Then again I'm no bearing expert...anyone?

I just installed Camburg arms and those do not look anything alike, though I did not measure but the Camburgs are much larger then 1". I believe the bolts were almost an 1".

Your camburb monoballs are 1" ID and the mis-alignment spacers space down for a 3/4" bolt.

You didn't honestly think that I was going to answer "NO" to this question did you???

Uniball from Camburg UCA 07-08 Tundra - Tundra Solutions Photo Gallery
Camburg Uniball for 07-08 Tundra UCA - Tundra Solutions Photo Gallery
Camburg Uniball for 07-08 Tundra UCA - Tundra Solutions Photo Gallery

The Aurora pic sucks. It is tough to tell, but it looks like the outter diameter may be larger on the Burgs and the amount of pivot looks like it might be greater on the Burg, but that is because I take SUPERB phots and Aurora is no match to my photo kung-fu!!!

As for the second part, think of how many bearings are out there. It is confusing compared to rollers and needles and ball bearings and all the different sizes. I don't see why there couldn't be more than one size ID vs. OD monoball. I would guess that more than one company makes these so why can't they be different?

Maybe Jerry Zaiden will respond as to what he knows...

Dude I totally thought you were... haha
It's not often your fellow forum-er has photos of their uniballs in their hands.
Seriously though thanks for showing those pics. I think the photo on the BSR website link I posted doesn't show the scale of them though. Even if they are the same size wonder if they're the same grade.

Yah true there- like standard roller-bearings come in all sorts of OD/ID combinations.

If Jerry Zaiden is the camburg guy this might be where they buy them or their supplier buys them. Or they could just be low grade bearings that just cost $25.
I'll bet you he says yes, or no. lol

You have obviously underestimated my kung fu!!! My kung fu is strong!

No, their photo is tiny and there is nothing in it to represent scale. If I was you, I would just buy one, for $25.00 plus maybe $5.00 at worst to ship ground, $30.00 isn't really a loss if infact they are innerchangable.

Yeah, Jerry is the Burg in Camburg. Call him, he is a really cool guy and will talk to you, he will likely tell you what's up and if they are comparable or not. For the cost, I would guess not, but I don't make them so I'm not going to confirm that answer.

sweet kung fu skills man
I thought the same exact thing- I should just buy one!
Then I just emailed and asked them the dimensions instead. lol
Also- it is a racing supply company in North Carolina *circle-track-central* those guys don't play around when it comes to beefy parts.
I'll post what they respond with. Hopefully good news

All I got back was the O.D. of the race- which is 1-3/4". Sweet.

WOW, they are really helpful...

I don't know what the OD is but I could probably measure it for you if you need.

Call camburg, I bet they can give you the specs right over the phone.

Good thing you already know about them. Since I am not an engineer, I will trust Camburg and their crews for knowing what they are doing. For a couple $$ extra, I will be assured of my family's safety and Tundra's integrity when ordering the correct part from the correct supplier.

TS
I saw this on wheelers website Camburg Coilover Shocks and Upper Control Arms - Wheeler's Off-Road, Inc

"Aurora Uni-Ball Set for Camburg UCA: 120.00 Includes two Aurora brand Uni-Balls, will service a pair of UCA's."

Aurora makes them but I wonder if there is something different about the ones that you found on Aurora's site.

That's what I'm trying to figure out. I barely have a few hundred miles on my arms so I'm not in a rush or anything. I figured I'd search around for a replacement on my own and found some on a N. Carolina circle-track parts website selling 1" teflon-lined aurora monoballs. It's not Aurora's actual site. I'm convinced they're the right part- sooner or later I'll get around to ordering or calling them to make sure after getting a measurement.

And maybe sooner than later someone with their monoballs removed could confirm the depth & OD of the outer race.
