Default setting up gears how bad is it

I just bought a new 3rd set up with 4.10 gears and the kazuma lsd for the rear of my 01 tundra limited but now i have to do the front diff. I was told tacoma gears will fit or possibly an entire tacoma 3rd since they had the option of 4.10s from the factory. If memory serves correct i can swap over all the automatic 4wd stuff. They seem to be easily obtained too. If i would get used gears are they hard to set up. Im thinking worst cast scenario if i cant find the entire 3rd with low miles. I can do most things on my own but i dont want to set it up wrong. My dad has been a toyota service tech for 24 years but he says in all those years he can count the diff failures he has seen on one hand. Most of the time toyota will send out an entire remaned unit and he can install it. No messing around with setting up gears so he dont have a lot of experience with this either. What cost am i lookin at for someone to set this up and can you recommend anyone within driving distance of lancaster pa.

There are a couple specific tools needed to set up backlash, I know there are a couple other things too, but check out this site. It is kinda generic for all makes etc. but has more information than you will get on this site.

It's not hard but, very time consuming. To help make this easier, along with the tools, get an extra set of carrier/pinion bearings/cups. Hone the inside of the bearings and outside of the cups. These will be used as "set-up" bearings/cups. These make it easy to remove/install in order to get the right backlash and contact pattern. Otherwise, you'll be using a press quite often to remove/install the bearings.
