Default For those who have the SOS perf lowering kit

For those who have the lowering kit installed on their trucks, did the kit interfere with your exhaust system? Reason being is that i'm interested in picking up the new lowering kit for my truck, but when i took it down to the shop down here they told me that I may need to redo the exhaust piping as it will come into contact with the shackles or leaf springs???

I have a dual exhaust installed, so I figured that hopefully only the pipes would have to be bent and not an entire new system fabbed up for me! Tom gave me until the 25th to make my decision to buy or not for a deal that I should not really pass up. Just seeking some input from my fellow brethren on here!~

Hey buddy...

I had to cut off my tailpipe and reroute it because

-Before the SOS Racing Lowering kit the springs are above the rear axle.
-Adding the SOS Racing Lowering kit puts the springs under the rear axle and the leaf springs will hit the tailpipe in its normal position.

Solution: If you are going to put this kit on don't worry about your exhaust before you put it on. Go ahead and put the kit on and you will see exactly where you need to cut about 2 ft of tailpipe off with a grinder once you have the kit on so when you lower your jack the exhaust pipe does not hit the springs.

Then in the morning go to an exhaust shop and have them weld some new pipes on for 50 bucks.

Hope this helps.

Dan

Hey Dan,

Thanks for the reply...at this point I figured that's what I probably needed to do. I called Tom and he went into further discussion about the install so it cleared things up for me quite a bit. Thanks for the confirmation though!

I already purchased the kit on monday and received it on wednesday. I just need to save up some cash and set a weekend when I can drop off the truck as they are within walking distance from my restaurant.

Thanks again for your help!
