With great honor and pleasure, I am proud to be the first person to run the 6" Icon Coilover Kit for the 2nd Generation (07+) Tundra. It was quite a journey to get this done, which included many sleepless nights due to excitement and anxiousness until my truck was officially dropped off at the Icon Vehicle Dynamics facility. Although I can not go into detail about the specifications of the coilover, I will, instead, give you my first-hand review of the product. The specification void will be filled by the folks at Icon VD.
From the get go, I noticed the difference once I left Icon’s facility. The steering was a lot smoother and the coilovers responded superbly to the bumps and imperfections on the street. What used to be a bumpy and stiff ride over these conditions is now soft and absorbing.
When I would drive over the same road conditions with my previous set up, I would feel a slight tug / vibration on my steering wheel which seemed like it was caused from the front suspension components; as if things weren’t tightened. (To give you an idea of the “tug”, tie a golf ball to a string, hold one end of the sting along with the golf ball, then drop the ball while still holding the sting’s end. Multiply that feeling times the amount of imperfections on the road.)
During the drive of the 230+ miles from L.A. to Vegas, I reached speeds close to 90mph and the Icons handled great!!! On the average 75mph speeds over the little bridges (not sure what they are exactly) on I-15, my truck glided over the slight bumps before and after the “bridge”. I’m not saying that it now rides like a Mercedes, but there’s definitely a difference from what it used to be.
As hard as I try to remember, I honestly can’t say whether or not it is better than stock because it has been so long since my truck was stock height. But what I can vouch for is that there is an improvement in ride quality compared to my former pro comp stage 1 kit. I would like to add that when I first got my pc stage 1 kit and like every other person that has it says, “it drives/rides just like stock…” Can I now say that if:
PC Stage 1 = Stock, Icon Coilovers > PC Stage 1, doesn’t that mean that Icon Coilovers > Stock?
I love this kit based on the 300 miles that I put on it this past weekend. I am still in awe over how well it handles and I look forward to taking it through the trails on our next Las Vegas Meet. The Icon coilovers are well built: the engineering is impeccable, the structuring is solid, and the ride quality is unbelievable. I would recommend the 6” Icon set-up to those who want to upgrade their pro comp stage 1 once it hits the market. I promise you will not be disappointed.
I would like to thank Mike and Dylan at Icon Vehicle Dynamics, Andre, Victor, and Rich at Findlay Toyota - Las Vegas, and my wife Amy for her support and dealing with me and my addicting hobby.
*Disclaimer: This is my review based on what I had and what I now have.
Take it for what it's worth.
*Pic added to my album. I'll take a better one later.

Thanks Eric. I am glad that you like the coil-overs. These shocks will be available at any of our distributors in the next few days and we are currently working on a 2.5" option(s) for the rear.
So when are the UCA's going on? Looks like thats all your missing for a fully custom front end. Throw on some Camburg's and your truck will be like a Mercedes while your out in the desert. Looks good and great chocie going with Icon!!

He will put these on to really make it ride like a Mercedes......
We are not sure yet. Unlike other companies that take a race style coil-over off the shelf and make it fit. We build the coil-over from the ground up specifically for the vehicle and the sub-frame kit it may have on it. What kit do you have?
Awesome, just awesome!!!!!!! Thanks ICON for making a great truck even BETTER!!!

I haven't lifted mine yet. I was thinking about using the Rough Country 6" lift. It is a standard drop bracket lift that uses a spacer with the stock strut to fill the gap. I would imagine that it should work if it bolts to the stock LCA and upper factory mount.
What are these going to run? I can't seem to find them anywhere.

Were you able to lift the front a little more? Also if you did how was the ride?? I like the PreRunner look! These coilovers require no cutting correct?

Nope, I left it the exact same way that Icon put it in. I just went out to measure it and everything sits perfectly leveled based on the gap from the top of my tires to the fenders. (Not sure whether that's how "level" is supposed to be determined. But that's the first thing I look at to see leveled) There's 1.5" worth of thread left underneath the spanner.
As far as the cutting, it's completely bolt on to replace the pro comp stage 1. I heard that with the pro comp stage 2 coilovers, you have to cut off a corner section on the truck at the bottom where the coilover would mount. If that's the cutting you're talking about, it wasn't necessary for the icons.
Hope I was able to help. If you have anymore questions about the Icons on my truck, don't hesitate to ask.
