Default Bilstein 5100 on 1st-gen Tundra - rebound way too fast

Is there any way to calm down the rebound stroke on the Bilstein 5100 dampers? Going up small driveways or on dirt roads with ruts/waterbars, these things are just flat out dangerous unless the truck is heavily loaded.

All 4 are the 5100 dampers, and the fronts are the adjustable preload. If I can get the dampers open I can do the shim valving the same way I would on my motorcycle suspension, but reassembly/bleeding is the issue. Is there anyone who has experience with the more technical aspects of these? The way these things are handling deeper into the travel is goddamn scary at times, so someone else has to have experienced the same thing and done something about it.

Thanks in advance!

I've had mine on my 04 double cab for some time and have not had a problem. Of course my front end is a bit heavy due to all the goodies I put on and the DCs seem more front heavy anyway. Actually, I wish the rebound was a bit better. Other than cracking it open and macguyvering, I suggest you get a grille guard, lights, dual battery, skid plates etc...

Sorry.

That's a tough one. As far as I know they are not meant to be rebuilt. That's why if they break/leak/whatever you send them back and get new ones. Are they set on max lift? This might make them stiff due to the load on the springs. I would try calling bilstein to see what they say, if anybody knows, it's them.
