Default RAS Installed

I just had my Roadmaster Active Suspension installed along with my HD Bilsteins.

Wow! This set up works.
The rear end stays glued to the pavement under all types of manuvers, smooth ride, no roll, no wheel hop and I ended up with a 1.75" lift.

I did not install the Hellwig - I'll update my as to how this set up works with a load and loaded trailer.

Can't wait to get Gary's coils and my HD Bilsteins installed up front...

I'll keep you posted - and yes I have pictures.

It's probably best that you look at the makers web site for a clear answer(s) to your question.

Go HERE and click on the Roadmaster Icon.

How did you get any lift at all since it does not start doing anything until you start loading up the bed, must be from the shocks.

My thoughts exactly. I am probably going to install this on my truck also. It is not suppose to "raise" the rear at all. He must be getting the lift from the shocks, but I wouldn't think it would raise it that much.

Default Lift

Well, I measured before and after the RAS install and noticed the lift before we touched the shocks. (I am told you can pre-load the spring and get some lift...)

I was/am not looking for lift, so I'm going to see if I can't make an adjustment - The shocks added another .25 inches for a total of 2.0" of lift.

Performance: I picked up a load of salt blocks (2000 pounds) and drove about 160 miles on all types of roads and speeds...

Smooth ride, no bottoming out on bumps, R/R crossings, etc...

My front stock shocks/springs are really weak and push all over the place, so I will wait until I upgrade the front end (Aug. 4th) before I comment on anti-sway properties with a heavy load.

Stay tuned.

Good Information!

Thanks for the info. I want to install the RAS system on my truck, but I do not want any (much) lift in the rear. When I get my Wheelers front coils installed I am hoping it will make the truck sit close to level. I was going to install the RAS after that. I wonder if the rear on a TRD 4X4 will raise that much? I sure don't want the rear any higher. With the load in the rear did it "squat" much?

Did you adjust them using a "quarter" for spacing, or did you load them more than that?

Default what's-up...

Yep, I used the quarter dollar method.

And, yes the rear did "squat" when loaded (2K of salt).
It dropped a full .25" below unloaded, lifted height.
That's a 2.75" swing.

I have emailed the company to find out what's-up...

I hope it's just an adjustment.
I'll post some pic's on my web site later ---

Well, it looks like they did a good job of keeping the rear up under a load. I just don't know what to think about the increase in rear height. Let us know what you find out.

BTW.. did you get the XF or XXF springs?

XXF... OK

That might have something to do with the lift. Seems like I read somewhere that the XXF was really for 3/4 or 1 ton trucks. I don't know if that could be the problem or not. I am anxious to find out what the people at RAS tell you. Just looking at how they work you would not think it would cause that much lift.

The 2000 lbs you had in the rear was a lot of weight for a 1/2 ton truck. Glad it kept it level for you.

Very good pictures.

What are you going to do with all the salt blocks?

Nice dog also!
