Default Suggestion on coilovers -

Need a set of front adjustable coilovers to keep my 3" lift (toytech setup) But also handle my 558 lb snoplow. Toytech has a nice setup with the eibach springs and Bilsteins, but i called yesterday and talked to someone and wasn't able to get some technical information that I was looking for.

Such as: what is the factory spring rate for the 5.7 TRD coils compared to the eibachs on their setup.

Is the eibach spring a variable rate?

What is the additiional load carrying capacity of the Toytech system compared to factory springs with the Toytech "Preload" spacer type kit I have in there now.

I am looking at the $899 setup on the toytech website.

Thanks for any insight and experience

The part number of the Eibach Spring in the Toytec photo is 1600.300.700. That translates to a 16" long spring, 3.0" ID, 700 lb rate... standard off the shelf stuff. I believe the stock TRD rate is around 600 lbs. So yes it will sag less under load.

I just had a set of Air Struts put on the front of mine. They are new and we are still working out a couple of small bugs,,, but it might be just what you are looking for in regards to load capacity and adjustability???

These were built around the Toytec 3/1 front end height and are adjustable up and down from that ride height. I get correct ride height at around 100psi with a bit stiffer ride than the stock coil over. These bags are 300psi bags, so there is plenty left in them for added weight capacity on the front. I hadn't thought much about a plow set up (being an AZ native) but these would probably work out perfectly for your needs.?

I believe the price of the struts is $800 for the pair,,, but the UCA's needed may be a bit more. Anyway,,, Airbagit is the Co. that is building these, give them a shout if you are interested. The only issue we are working on is a small clearance issue betweent he bags and the UCA's when lifted beyond +3 over OEM,,, but the strut's upper attachment bracket is adjustable, so I'll be moving it here in the next few days to gain the clearance I need,, so it shouldn't be an issue to reslove as it sits.

Now that is the info I am looking for Thanks !!!

Thanks for the info on the eibachs and the TRD springs. Do the TRD springs have the same dimesions and ID as the eibachs. Next question, will the eibach's fit on the TRD factory setup? so I can just change the springs ? or do I need the complete coilover setup to make it work?

On the Red Tundra, Thanks for the airbag info, I have seen your truck and the 4-link setup etc, and are very impressed with the truck research and information and how clean it is..lol. I would buy the airbag setup in a heartbeat for an $800 price tag, but adding in the cost of the UCA's, I don't know if I can justify it for now. ( I have a few other projects brewing if you know what I mean).

I love airbags, Use them on every truck I have ever had, and my race cars, on the front of my tundra..is like a dream come true for adjustability.

Keep tabs on the 4-link thread then. I don't think the UCA's are terribly expensive,,, but give the guys at airbagit a shout and see. I'm working on a slight clearance issue right now with the UCA's, but think we're gonna have it licked here in a week or so. I'll update the thread when we get it handled so if you are interested in a set of these, then I'll be able to tell you exaclty what needs to be done to get it dialed.

No, the stock springs are totally different. You'll need the coilover parts...

mc71454, is that a monte i see? I do love 454s, my best bud had a 71 monte with a built 454/posi. such a fun car, fast for a boat, sleeper.
I don't know if there are significant differences between 1stgen and 2ndgen coilover assemblies, but I run toytecs with the 600lb springs. cranked to give me 4'', rides nice. I recently had 6 80lb bags of concrete in the bed and didn't have any trouble. 700lb springs and the added weight of your bigger truck may be different but I hope that gives you an idea. I don't know the load specs or if the springs are considered variable, sorry on that. airbags are good too.
