What I have- look below. The only thing that has changed is I have lowered my front to about 7" and replaced my rear 3" blocks with 1.5" blocks
Right now I've got 305/70/16 Pro Comp X-terrains. There good besides lot's of humm and make the steering wheel wiggle a bit when under 30mph. They look cool but I think I want to go to a 315. At this point I will probably go t a A/T of some sort. I've had good luck with BFG's in the past.

On another note, I just did the mod for the CV boot. I used regular hose clamps and they didn't fit into the groove the old band sat in. Is this going to be a problem? What can I do to reduce the angle on the axle shaft. I have my sway aways cranked to 2-1/2"..would loering them to 2-1/4 or 2" make a difference? I'm just worried I'm going to start messing up my CV joints. Anybody got any background on this? I saw yours and yours look to fit into the old band groove. What kind did you use?

I thought I remembered seeing a bracket that would lift your axle to almost stock angle. Any help would be greatly appreciated! This forum is the best.

nah, you'll run out of angle on the cv joints before you lock them up. the half shaft will hit the outer lip (i think) of the inner cv and stop angling before it siezes...youre more likely to blow a cv or twist a halfshaft from too much torque while on the rocks in low range, as aj found out with his stock gears and 35s.

youll tear or abrade a cv boot before youll ever screw up the joints.

Thanks Sean..any problem with using the regular hose clamp? The same ones used for radiator hoses.

First thing i would like to point out is your steering shimmy. I lived with it for a year untill one day I realized that the drivers side steering rack was loose. Tightened and viola! Perfect- yeah for a little while. I think the stock rack is just to wimpy for the larger tires and especially if you offroad, because after about a month and a trip on some trails it was back. I looked underneath and someone wiggle the steering wheel and sure enough- the whole rack had movement again. But guess what, the bolts were tight and still are, however the rubber bushing at the driver side bolt and center ar completely worn out. The D-bushing ( passenger side is fine. Better yet, that is the only one (d-bushing) that is replaceble from Toyota. There is no replacement part for the other two!!! So I called around about having some custom poly one made and finally spoke with daystar. They said they just have not gotten around to it- so hopefully soon. FYI, the kit for the Tacoma is only $12.

As for CV boots, I bought actual CV boot bands at Carquest Autoparts when I lived in TN- this is a universal band that comes in small and large size. About a $1.50 or so each made by Band-It brand. The tool is about $12.00. But this is the right way and no problems. The boots tore before they leaked! Thats when I had my coilovers cranked to 8" plus. I didn't know-LOL

Of course the less angle on the your CV's the better. I " heard" 30 degrees is max, but I don't know for sure. Thats pretty sharp. I really don't know. I would just stick with the good ole 2" rule for now untill you get some better info.

It's for you...our trucks are almost identical! You've got bigger sneakers! I just messed up the name...it does have a nice ring though!

I looked at your profile- Chief Huh? What grade is that- E7? I did 7 years in the Corps! I'm sure you made the connection now between that fact and my user name. When I said identical, I was refering to Tundra Thunder, but holy shiester!!! yours and mine are really close! How do you like the body lift? Shoot, If I did a body lift, I 'd be able to run 38's minimum! Actually, I had purchased the body lift by Performance and was all set to do it the next day and then changed my mind at the last minute.

Hopefully, we'll get some type of event going here in the future where we can check out other lifted Tundras

Yep Chief is E-7 paygrade. Got 18 years and still having fun. Alot of that fun is what I'm doing currently....Naval Special Warfare. The 15 years before sucked because of lack of funding but ever since George Jr took over things have been great! It has it's up and downs like every job.

I think I have my tundra right where I want it for hieght. Just going to put on 35's next time.

Thanks for your service as a marine...those are some hard core bubbas..and bubbettes.. Served with a whole bunch of Marines during OIF and they are great troops!

Don

droopy T: pics from the shop.

that's limited, there's 1/2" to 1" beyond but gets close to the uniball's max angle. shoulda got a pic with the truck sitting level (!) when we let it down...nice to get a glimpse of the way it'll sit once the lift is turned up to 4" on the coils. fulla moxie, some 4.56 and i'll stick low profile 35s on and hit the terrain.
