I too was scared to touch my truck up until a few months ago and decided I need to learn sometime. Eventually this is the kind of stuff I want to be doing full time and hope to own a 4WD shop soon. I have done a couple of Dodge Ram body lifts, 3 Chevy ones, and now my Tundra. I have also done a couple of suspensions for some guys I know. I also installed my own coilovers and rear setup. It takes some time and some know how, but saved me a ton of money. Me doing my own work was the only way I could afford the lift. If anyone ever needs a hand with anything, and wants to drive over, I would be more than happy to help out in any way I can. I love this stuff.

I was actually in the garage at 1 this morning with my two roommates standing over me drinking a beer. One of them looks down at me and goes: "What are you going to do now that your truck is finished?" I smiled and told him it is never finished.

S-Man, go for it. I know you can do it. Just don't act like a guy for a few hours and actually read the instructions. I almost went with the BFG AT's but Big Green made a good point. If you are going to run tires that big, get some mean mudders. So I did.

Default IT's HERE

IT's here!!!!
Wheeler's package showed up this week!!! Daystar and AAL can't wait! New TRD Bilstiens just happen to be in the same box! Man life can't get better than this. About the time I finish, the new step bars will be here.

As for tires I really Like the Dunlops over the BFG's I get better milage and they cost about 2/3rds as much so I will be putting on my new 285/75/16 Mud Rovers and then I can post some new pictures. AFter the waranty runs out I'll lift it with a real lift Like I did my other trucks!! LOL

I had a friend with a Terminator say "It won't be long and you'll have spent as much money fixing yours up as I did buying mine already done" and I said "Yea but mine looks like mine and yours looks like everyone elses"

Talking

i gots an update on my "project" ...

but first, s-man, all these guys will jump in any chance they get if ya wind up in a bind...just holla, and make sure you get clear instructions before you tear apart the front of the truck in your girlfriend's garage, track grease on her rug, and leave the truck there for the week while you borrow your roommate's car to get around . not that i would have any experience with this of course .

now for the "project" update ...i'm getting my manual hub kit + high angle cv boots installed next friday (if not sooner, friday is when it's scheduled). the dealership is being really cool about it, 5 hours labor, so about 300 bucks, and they do alllll the press work, fitting, snap ring stuff, messing with the diff, and i get my front diff flushed and refilled in the process. on top of that, i'm getting the total chaos uniball upper arms through bill west, theoretically the entire deal will be together by next saturday, an alignment on monday, and i'll be getting an additional 4" of droop over stock, with unlocked hubs and i'm thinking around 3" to 4" of lift in the front, depending on how much droop i still have at that point. if i can realistically get 4" of lift out of the ifs (i doubt it, but we'll see), i'll up the rear springs to 4" of suspension lift on alcans and orbit eyez (custom bumper project, whut whut) and go play.

depending on how this all comes out, i might have some stainless braided extended brake lines for sale, dunno just yet.

i'll definately post some pics of the droop with these uniballs .

*edit* designflaw, i'm up in dayton...that's only a couple hours from lexington. flyin6 is down that direction too...we oughtta get together and check out natural bridges or something...eh?

Default Off Road in KY

Stealth,
That would be great. Natural Bridge has got some good trails. That is where I use to take my 97 Jeep Cherokee with 4.5" Rough Country lift, and 33" Mud Rovers.

Land Between the Lakes is cool too but it is 4-5 hours south west of here so that would be about 8 hours for you.

I'm up near Dayton a bunch. Just built 2 fire stations for the Clearcreek Township.

Default Lifts

03 Silver Sky Tundra
Tuff Country 4.5"
King Coilovers 2.5" (will adjust to give an extra 3" of height)
And the rear has 3" spacers and airbags (I haven't measured but when inflated it looks like a couple inches of added height.

Also, I took my truck back to the place I had my lift installed for tire rotation (PG Series s***s) and they put a spindle brace on and now it's rubbing (hard) on my coils.

I was one of the guys saying, I can't wait for the RCD lift, but I found out from RCD that it will be a Billstein specific setup. They sent me a brochure of the lift and it looks just like the Tuff Country. I think I'll take the brace off considering I don't offroad my truck and try to be content w/ my setup.

Eric

Eric, you might think twice about that spindle brace. I think Kings are wider than SAW's which is compounding your problem. Your Kings are over cranked and you are putting some serious stress on your spindles, not to mention your cv's. You could likely bust them just from hitting a pot hole. I have a Tuff Country 4" lift and SAW's set at 1.5". Even at full droop, I still have a 1/2" clearance between the brace and coil. On my brace, the point that was closest to the coil came to a point. I trimmed it down a bit to give more clearance. I'm going to make an additional brace to sit on top of the spindle and under the spacer. Kind of like a brace sandwich for the spindle. Thought you might be interested.

We just made it to 50. And yes, I'm counting the two guys that don't come on often but have big *** trucks (Leathernuts and Freejack2000).
