Default 4wd springs and shocks on 2wd

Are the 4wd springs any longer then the 2wd's? The reason im asking is i want to get a set of bilstein (prefferably a set of the red/blue ones) and i can get a set of front bilstein's and springs off a 2003 4wd truck or a set of the red/blue bilsteins with no springs (front/rear #00602-48500-100) but i couldnt remeber what the difference is between the 2wd and 4wd shocks. If i recall correctly it was just a "stiffer" valving? Oh yeah, im asking about the 4wd springs because im looking for a cheap spring lift for the front as of now till i get teh funds together for some saw's...

With the TRD offroad coils there were reports of 1.5 to 1.75 inches of lift when installed into a standard 4x2. That is my plan very shortly also. Should receive them today in fact and install hopefully this weekend.

Do a search for 2wd lift. There was a long thread that started under the Texas forum and I think eventually was also put in this forum. For the shocks, you can go to the garage and find an explanation of the difference. As for springs, the TRD 4x4 springs are longer and they are progressive. It's accurate to say most, if not all, people with stock 4x2, non TRD setup will see 1.5~1.75" lift when they switch to the 4x4TRD springs and TRD shocks(TRD red/blue 4x4 shocks are same as aftermarket Bilstein yellow/blue, TRD red/blue 4x2 shocks are different). Not to mention a big improvement in ride quality up front.
You may want to look at the wheelers springs, many people with 4x4 trucks are now trying these. Not sure what they would do for a 4x2. Maybe you would see the same lift as a 4x4, plus an additional 1.5~1.75"? Depends on if you are trying to get level(TRD Springs), or get max. lift out of the front(Wheelers springs?).

I really like how mine turned out. I believe there has been a 100% positive response on this mod.

So if I understand this thread correctly, I should be able to install these TRD 4wd springs & yellow/blue Bilsteins on my non-TRD 2wd and if I do nothing else that it would level out the front end.

I apologize in advance for asking this should it have been asked already in another thread and I did not see it.

You can read in my sig, mine raised 1.75", and got it within a 1/4" of level. Close enough for me. Most guys were getting between 1.5" and 1.75" front lift using the 4x4 TRD springs. At worst it will get you within a 1/2" of level AND firm up the ride a little (which is a plus for most of us).

    SATundra,

Thanks for the info. The only reason I asked again is that you have written in your sig that you have the AAL in the rear and I was not really clear on if that made a difference with how much it leveled out the ride.
