I can't remember for sure right now, but am pretty sure both Off Road and Truck Trend magazines reported that the doublecab Tundra will have rear drum brakes. Off Road compared the new Tundra to the Nissan Titan, recommended the Titan for off-road, Tundra for on-road. The article criticized Toyota for not having rear disc brakes if I remember right.
i was at cobb toyota today and the dealership sayes 4 wheel disk abs on all 4 wheel's....I was looking at a spec report and it sayes 4 wheel disk on the brakes and if there wrong on well ill see it when i beleive it
I am interested in a Sequoia rear disc conversion. Has anybody done this yet? I've been thinking about it for about 6 months. Anybody got any ideas? Thanks, gavin

im gonna wait until I have to start paying for major brake services. The best brakes are free ones from the dealer. But one of these im thinking about organizing a GB so we can have BREMBOS all away around.

my brother has a set of "brembos brakes new" in the garage for his toyota solara wonder how good they really are when he puts them on..I dont recall brembos making any for the tundra but yet again i like toyota providing free brakes job's on mine in which now i've losed count on how many repairs it has taken toyota.....

I'm waiting for my crossed drilled Brembos to arrive for the Tundra. I'll be sure to let everyone know how I like them.

Well ive been looking around at the brembo website and they dont have a application for tundras listed. The two brands that have produced BBK for tundras are of course TRD and STOP-TECH.
For the record, I too have had to replace a rear axle oil seal on my 2000 Tundra. Work was covered under my 5/50,000 powertrain warranty. Leak occured ~ 38K miles. Dealer replaced seal, bearing, brake shoes.
Because they only replaced the shoes on the side that was covered with gear oil, I had uneven thickness (left vs. right) in my brake shoes which caused the parking brake/star adjuster to overtighten then shoe clearance on the side the changed out. Before this work was performed, I never had any problems with overtightening of the rear brake shoes despite not having the star adjuster TSB performed. Back to the dealer again.
I complained about how they should have changed out both brake shoes at the same time given that its written in as a requirement in the Toyota Service Manual for the Tundra. All to no avail. They said, "bring it back in if it happens again and we'll see".
I discovered the leak while washing my truck one weekend. While cleaning my right rear rim I noticed some "wetness" to the dirt/dust buildup on the inside of the rim looking through the spokes (I have the OEM cast aluminum rims). Crawling under the truck and inspecing the inside of the rim revealed oil all over the rim and tire.
I immediately thought I had a leaking brake slave, but brake level was topped off. Then I thought rear axle seal and check my differential oil level. Oddly enough, it seemed right where it was supposed to be. I guess it doesn't take that much of a volume of gear oil to make a mess of one's rim/tire.
I opened up the rear drum and could actually see gear oil leaking from the bearing/hub area. My entire drum assembly including the shoes and springs were covered with wet brake dust.
Closed her back up and dropper my truck off at the dealer, knowing it would be covered by the powertrain warranty.
Colt, thanks. I was going to have a look this weekend but one thing leads to another, you know. But I want to check it out and keep an eye on it. I changed the rear end oil over to Mobil 1 at 4000 miles. I don't know if that would have any effect. I'm now at 32,000.
