Thumbs up Camburg Uniball Upper A arms

Looks like Camburg is now making Uniball upper A arms. This pic is off of a Tacoma, so a Tundra version should not be far off!!!

actually, it looks like camburg is rebadging total chaos uppers, or they have the same design...that's exactly what's on my truck, down to the bracing at the root of the horseshoe and the bolt setup, but mine's grey and says "total chaos".

camburg made tacoma replacement arms long beofre total chaos even had a kit out. The trend died out, but with all the coilovers out now replacement upper arms are all the rage. But nobody here likes camburg so ill shut up now.

Actually Camburg makes very good products, a friend of mine has their Long travel set-up on his 4Runner. Personally I like the Total Chaos long travel kit better, mostly because the ease of adding a second shock, that's what I chose to install on my 4Runner. Fortunately Kartek has both kits in stock and I was able to do a side by side comparison.

Question Why new A arms

Can someone school me on why I might want (or need) to do this?

I am thinking about Kings or Donahoes, but would only crank them for a 2 inch lift. TIA for any comments...

The stock A-arm isn't prone to having much lift without causing upperball joint binding or even breakage. With the uniball set-up it's virtually indestructable and gives more travel. Donahoe has came out with a set of coilovers that allow for an additional 1" of travel over the SAW's design, in conjunction with TC's a-arms...

Default Advice on TC A arms

Hey guys. Look at my profile and tell me if you think I'd benefit from TC "A" arms. I've got SAW roadrunners cranked to 2-1/2", 3" PA body lift, and 305/70/16's.

Tell me what you'd do if you had this setup. Thanks!

you should all go read the offroad faq...yanno...the one that's linked in my signature line...the answers you seek are all there, even got a section on coilovers, lifts, upper ball joint problems...

...what would i do with your setup cbchief? get a set of total chaos upper control arms, a pair of 12" limit straps from kartek, and 315/75/16 tires. ryan took a shot of the droop on my truck with the 12" limit straps, teamwest SAWs and total chaos upper arms...it's real nice. dunno if the stock SAWs will droop that much, the TW SAWs allow more droop than any of the other current coilover choices, period, but must be strap limited (honestly, a coilover should be anyway)...regardless, with that setup, youd find out how much droop a stock SAW would allow. it will perform very well offroad. course, if youre not in to running around in the dirt, that's 600 bucks to spend elsewhere.

Thanks Sean. That's the same setup that a friend of mine told me. Gonna work it!

Lightbulb Suggestion Duly Noted

Hey Sean, thanks for the suggestion. I hadn't looked at the FAQ in ages and didn't realize how you and others had contributed so much since then.

So stock ball joints will work fine with my plans. Until I save up for these new A-arms, just because I love seeing shiny things under Tundra fenders.

See you on the trails,

for comparison--same suspension, so you can see the droop:

settled wish i had a better pic than this of the front.

droopy the tire is about 4" off the ground.

sorry, that first photo is the only one i have of the profile with the new front & rear springs...i dont have a side shot posted of the front. it droops about 6" down from where it normally rides, i think--about 10" total travel. nothing extreme, but not bad for ifs. dunno if youll get the same amount of droop with standard saws, but regardless it'll improve your ball joint situation quite a bit.
