Hi, I'm new to these forums and just installed an SOS 2/3 lowering kit in my 2000 Tundra SR5. Now the front/rear ride is too harsh for my tastes. SOS claimed that their front drop kit maintains factory ride. I disagree after my experience. I am trying to maintain the car-like ride Tundra's are known for. I am still using the stock shocks and springs, does this make a difference over aftermarket shocks in a lowered truck? SOS recommends upgrading to Tokico shocks with their kits, but I don't know why, and they don't answer my phone calls or my emails to them. Anyone else have experience with the SOS components? Maybe I'm expecting too much? Thanks for any advice
I am running SOS 2/3 on my t2004 now. I have the Tokico shocks. The ride did not seem to change that much. In cornering I feel less roll becauise the roll center is lowered. I will be installing my 5-link in the next couple weeks so my truck ride will change alot. It seems strange that you are having trouble contacting those guys. I never have trouble getting e-mails or phone calls from them. Keep bugging them. Tell them I said to shape up their customer service

Thanks for the reply OK, I thought that the stock shocks were being adversely affected somehow with a lowered setup making them feel stiffer. Getting 22 inch Lorenzo L06's and Toyo Proxies ST (305/40/R22 rear and 265/40/R22 front) next week, so I expect that my ride will suffer more so. Small price to pay for a cool ride Thanks again.
hell yes i have been wanting to drop my v6 2wd reg cab for ever and have never seen or heard of it happening untill now. what ever i have to do to get lowering kits available ill do it.it seem tricky with them leaf springs or what ever guess u gotta get some the dont bend up like that or somethin i dunno keep me posted im anxious.
My Tundra is fixed Seems SOS forgot to send Delrin bushings for the 3 inch rear drop kit, so my installer temporarily used used the factory bushings till SOS could mail the proper replacements. The Rear springs were binding causing almost NO suspension travel...it was a bone jarring ride all right With the Delrin bushings in place, all is cushy and smooth again. The front 2 inch drop did not affect ride quality one bit! I am very pleased with the results of this mild drop.
I finished off the suspension mod with 22X9.5 inch Lorenzo L06 and Toyo ProxiesST's. The Lorenzo's have a +14 offset, and using 305's in the front would result in tire rub against the upper A-arms. A 3mm spacer could be used to provide clearance between the tire and A-arm, but the tire/wheel would then stick out slightly beyond the fender lip. I hate tires/wheels sticking out beyond the fenders, so i compromised with 265(285's would have been perfect if they only made em) tires. I had to go staggered using 265/40/R22 front and 305/40/R22 rear on the tires. The 1 inch larger diameter verses the stock tires in the rear helped to fill out the wheel well (I think after the fact I should have gone with the 4 inch drop). There is no rub or clearance problems at all with the 2/3 drop, and no wheel spacers were needed. And I still have enough suspension travel to carry a decent load from time to time. The result gave me a clean looking street truck without resorting to fender flares.
BTW, I would like to highly recommend "Wired For Sound" in Murrieta CA. They routinely work on high-end show-cars, and they know what the hell they're doing while not charging ridiculous prices some other places quote.

I have an 04 Stepside with O.E. 17" wheels, and the SOS 1 1/2 & 3 kit. My truck came with the Tokico shocks. This model has always had a stiffer ride.
The front ride didn't change after the lowering.
I did lose a lot of payload capacity when I removed the overload springs though. It hits the rub stops easily, even on the speedbumps where I live.
If you're attending the Dec 5th Tom's Farms meet this Sunday, we'll be raffling off a 1-1/2" Lowering Kit for 99-04 Tundras from SOS Performance Products!
We'll hold a special raffle for this, since we want to make sure that someone will actually INSTALL it and share their install experience with photos!
Make sure you let me know when you get there and I'll give you a ticket!
