Please post pics of "prerunner" Tundras w/ custom or kit long travel. Also discussion
-Anyone got pics or links to pics with Tundras setup with either custom or kit long travel suspensions?
-Who else makes front kits for the Tundra besides Total Chaos and Camburg?
- What can be done in the rear(besides linking it)?? Do 62" deavers work well, or should custom springs be made because of the weight, etc.?
-How are the 'replacement' deavers for the Tundra/Tacoma? Are they the same part #? Wouldn't the Tacoma replacement springs be unsuitable for Tundra, even though they use the same springs??
TC and Camburg are the only pre fabbed LT kits at this time. ESB is working on a kit but is not currently available. Their Tacoma kit is already in production, using uniballs top AND bottom, 5.5" wider per side, plate lower arms, square tubing uppers, steering, plus a piece for the rack.
I too have often wondered about using 62s on the back. I measured a Tundra a year ago before i even had mine and it seemed to be 61" eye to eye. So if the 62s made for the Tacoma and mini Toyota have the correct axle placement they could possibly be a bolt in. ON my 94 Toyota 2wd, i cut the spring mounts off, welded on new hangers in the correct spot, and made my own shackles and shackle mounts. Tundra have their springs on the outside of the frame rails rather than under like Tacos and minis, so its a lilttle different setup.
As far as bolt in for sure options. I talked to a guy running the replacement Deavers and he said they rode great. There is also a budget option called the 3 leaf addition. You ditch your stock overload and install 3 thin leaves to make it a progressive ride.

I've heard about the "3 leaf" system. Is that supposed to be used with the stock spring pack...or do you add it to the "replacement deaver" Tacoma/Tundra replacement pack?
Ya, I can't wait till the ESB kit comes out. But 5.5" over on each side might look awkward, since Tundras are already huge/wide (Looks good on a Tacoma though, since they aren't as wide to begin with). ESB kits are almost the same price as the Camburg and TC kits, but from what I read it has more goodies(lower uniballs, fully heimed tie-rod/steering, more travel, etc.).
I've searched all the off-road shops' websites, but only found a few nicley done up Tundras. I wanna see more pics of the Donahoe Tundra and the Newline Tundra. Anybody got anymore pics of anymore Tundras done up with LT? Or, better yet..videos of them in action

Hey dude,
go search on the Toyota Photos on TS. Use the search button "prerunner" "camburg" "total chaos". There are the members with Prerunners: Supertundruck, RDOGG, Tundra311, fyrfly6, nightstick. Too bad most of them have sold them away. I'll post pics later.
The 3 leaf system i was reffering to is added to your stock pack once you pull the stock overload out.
5.5" is wide but with 7"-8" wide rims and glass fenders, will look great. Thats not to factor in how well it will do off road with the right coilovers and valving.
The major short coming i see with the TC and Camburg kits is using the stock lower ball joint.
If i had half the money in the world and was not in a hurry...id make my own arms, with tabs mounted off the side of the frame rather than above where they are now, use some fabricated Chevy lift spindles(stronger and smaller by far plus lift and maintaing 6 lug in some cases) with a large heim joint mounted vertically, then build a lower arm to work with it using the stock pivots inside but horizontal uniball at the spindle.
If i had ALL the money in the world and this was a second vehicle, id move the engine back about 10" cut the frame rails off make a sub frame and center mount arms....GOT TRAVEL???

Custom center mount setup would be sweet(couldn't it be done w/out moving the engine back?).. but very pricey I bet. It would be nice if companies like Camburg or TC made lower frames/subframes like they do for the old minis, but instead for a centermount design to replace the existing inner joint locations.
But back to reality lol..Camburg, TC, and ESB utilizes the skinny stock spindles still. I would be a little concerned of it breaking while beatin on my truck. Stronger fabbed custom spindles would cost a liver and a lung...you think gusseting it would srengthen it significantly? Only the upper part of the spindle looks weak and skinny, maybe weld some thick plate or tube to it to beef it up might work.
I agree, the upper part of the spindle on the Tundras and Tacomas is\are the weak point. ESB addresses it to some extent if you look at their pics. The weld a piece of round tubing from the bottom of the upper ball joint mount a few inches down picking up some strength from the spindle.
I know a guy with a tacoma and Camburg long travel that did the same jump in Ocotillo Wells across the street from Devils Slide that I did. He ripped the bolts out of the lower ball joint destroying the threads on 2 of them.
I did that jump a few weeks ago in my 94 Toyota 2wd with TC uniball kit........i bent my rims and rear axle. Says alot for construction of suspension.
I dont usually "jump" as much as i just flat out haul azz through whoops and down washes, but when you get a 12pk or so in ya, thats how it goes.
