Default Need advice on King lift and tires

I had a 01 AC lifted (Downey) and some good Mich A/T tires. Now I have a 04 DC and want to lift it (front/back) 1" to 2" and get some bigger tires. The dealership I go to for all my service is also into Toyota offroad racing. I don't know ANYTHING about lifts other than you usually get a lift, add-a-leafs and rear shocks - at least that is my understanding. Having said that, I did use my lifted AC to climb steep trails that were mostly boulders. I also loved riding higher on the road and the truck didn't lean so much in turns.

Anyway, the guys involved in the racing at the dealership told me to go with the King lift and larger diameter/higher pressure Bilsteins. First, I want to see if anyone has any serious concerns with this setup. Second, I want to figure out what tires I can go with that won't rub. I have the 17" rims. Since I probably won't take my DC offroad as much as I did my AC (with Mich A/T tires), I want some tires that are a little better for on road driving but are still A/T capable tires. Any suggestions?

First off you may want to try the off-road faq. Also trying using the search function to find posts on lifting a DC.

As far as tires are concerned I really like the BF Goodrich all-terrains.

I've been reading the threads on the lifts all day but they are a little over my head.

Yep, but the ride is just about the same with or without the additional TC lift. I don't notice much of a ride difference.
