Default 2002 Sequoia @WD- Best Replacement Shock Options

Our 2002 SR5 Sequoia 2 WD is at about 34K miles and it seems (?) that the suspension has gotten a little softer.

Perhaps the original shocks are getting tired from holding up the 5,000 ofr so pounds the Sequoia weighs.

What is the the best shock for the Sequoia that will provide a firm, but not uncomfortable ride ? Perhaps a bit firmer than oem but not too firm ( comfortably firm).

It's my wife's daily driver so it has to absorb speedbumps and potholes without being "bone jaring".

Seems a lot of people here like the Bilsteins.

Thanks, GNB

Much appreciated !!

As a DIY project the rear shocks look to be straightforward.

How about the front shocks - what's involved in replacing them ?

I have spring compressors and I'm used to using them, so I found the rears to be more trouble than the fronts on my Tundra. The fronts took longer, but the top nut on the rears is in a tight location.

You do need the spring compressor, and you need to know how to use it. If you do it wrong, you could remodel your face. Rent some spring compressors and get instructions. Be sure to put the spring back into the pocket in the spring seat. Note the orientation of the studs on the top before you disassemble it and put it back together exactly the same way.

Sure the rears aren't BE5-6025's ??

If not, why not ?

Thanks for clearing the rear shock model numbers !

BTW- how is the ride with these Bilsteins versus the oem shocks that came on my SR5 Sequoia ?

Also- does 35 K miles sound right for the oem shocks to begin getting softer?

Thanks

Much appreciated !

I also prefer a stiffer ride on the cars & trucks I drive .

My wife drives the Sequoia- Do you think she would find the Bilsteins too stiff? The Sequoia has from the factory a somewhat of a "car like" ride ( soft) to it.
