Lightbulb Sequoia Rear Disc Conversion for Tundra

Hi all,

I have been doing some looking around and am interested in doing a rear disc conversion on my 03 Tundra. It seems that the Sequoia would be the best place to start. I found that Rock Auto is selling Raybestos PG Plus loaded rear calipers for $127 ea and Raybestor Rotors for $30 each for the Sequoia. What are some of the other things needed to do the conversion? I will start a list and maybe people can add on.

1. Loaded Rear calipers, Raybestos #RC10463 & RC10464 $127 ea
2. Rotors, Raybestos #96929 $30 ea
3. Backing plate ???
4. Brake line extensions ???
5. splash guards ???
6. misc bolts, nuts and washers ???
7. Brake proportioning valve ???

What else is needed? Does anyone have an exploded diagram of parts for the rear axle/brake assembly? I wonder if the Tundra e-brake cable will mount up to the Sequoia brake caliper? I am hoping this is the best way to go, that way it uses easy to find rotors and brake pads. Also, there is a place here in Colorado that does rear brake conversions called TSM Manufacturing and I have been bugging them about a Tundra kit and they said they will get to it eventually, but dont have time right now. They even thought one of their existing kits might work. Another thought is if we can spark enough interest here, I could maybe talk them into it, if there is enough interest. I would like to try to go down the Sequoia path first. All suggestions and comments are welcome.

I guess this isn't as big of a deal on here as I originally thought. I thought there were quite a few people who wanted to swap the rear drums out of their Tundra. I will keep working on this to see if I can get it figured out.

Do a search on the subject.

I recalled there's a member who listed all necessary parts and steps. Some welding required (??).

Also, Tundra's a 3-channel brake and Sequoia is 4.

It seems SOS conversion kit is a better solution.

I have done numerous searches on this subject that is why I started a new one. There is no welding required, it should all bolt up. The reason I started a new thread is because of the availability of aftermarket calipers and rotors now. Before you had to get from Toyota and they were expensive. The 3 vs 4 channel that you are talking about is in regards to the ABS. That is a non issue. The SOS conversion is not a better solutions because 1, you can get all the parts cheaper, and 2 they are all standard parts, no custom rotors. I am an engineer and a do it yourself guy and like the challenge to come up with a reasonable and easy solution.

I'd love to see this work for you and get set up on my Tundra. Let me know how it goes.

I too am interested in doing this myself rather than paying the high price for the SOS kit. Anxious to hear any information you find out... I'll help if I can!
