Suspension & AxleTechnical discussions regarding alignment, stock and modified suspensions, lift kits, axles, hub conversions, gearing and steering.
This is a discussion thread titled "$800 Long Travel Kit?", within the Suspension & Axle forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
its crap! first of all you have to do some welding in the installation, and ball joints are not nearly as strong as uniballs. He claims that the kit gives you 11 inches of travel (1 inch more than uniball)...You can get 10 inches of travel running upper camburg uniball controll arms with extended length coilovers from camburg or donahoe racing.
I think you have to do some welding on the Total Chaos kit as well, for the limiter straps. I wonder if it would work if you just used the bottom half of his kit and used your own uniball-UCA's...

No. No! Inland trucks!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! I wouldn't trust this stuff on my truck if I just used it as a street cruiser... there's no way in hell I'd every attempt to use this stuff off-road... or on-road for that matter. First... they reuse the stock ball joint... BIG problem there. Let's just put it this way... if they're cheap enough to reuse the stock ball joint... they're gonna be using some damn cheap parts to make what little they actually give you.

Please No. It is that bad. ATS went out of business because of their bad reputation in their LT suspension kits, although, the shop, Inland Trucks is still around. These kits are just 'leftovers" from the business. I think there was a discussion in another thread about how bad this kit is.

Jelly
ATS went out because they were being sued by so many people over the crap he puts out. This is him under another name. Using stock ball joints is cheesy. Inland had Scott on the payroll for a while but he is no longer there and inland strictly does maintenance now. Like the usual shop. No longer in the offroad stuff. I would not buy them. Scott i still building junk and selling it over ebay. But that is my 2 cents.

both TC and camburg reuse the bottom ball joint anyways, yes it is probably not the best design. older camburg kits reuse the stock upp and lower ball joints on there tacoma kit, TC still uses ball joints in a lot of there tacoma kits. BALL joints arnt necessarly the problem, bad geomety is.

Yes but the ball joints do not have the travel of a uniball plus they are weaker compared to a uniball. The lower is ALOT stronger then the upper so reusing the lower ball joint is less Cheezy then reusing both. These companies offer Ball joint kits because they are cheper for the end user to buy because Uniballs are kind of pricey. I have seen many trucks break ball joints and ALL have been upper ball joints. I have seen worn out lowers but never seen one break. TC came out with a lower uniball to replace the ball joint on their Late 80's early 90's cadi kit for 4wd's recently so I am wating to see if they come up with something like that for the others.

from what i hear, tc or camburg will not make a lower uni ball for a tundra, i hear it will be impossible unless they use a new spindle.
I do not know about impossible. They seem similar to the 4wd. Maybe the dimensions could not be matched due to the size of a uniball. Also I believe you could not put a threw bolt on the lower tundra like you could on the old 4wd's.
