Exclamation A SIMPLE way to extend life of CVs

I was putting on my snow tires/rims the other day and noticed when I spun the tire that there was a "rubber creaking" sound. With further inspection I found that the CV boot was rubbing against itself (@ full drop). My DC has about 2000 mi. on it with DR's set at @ 2 inches. But already the CV boots were dry. So I spayed a good amount of "303 Aerospace Protectant" all over the boots and the steering protector boot as well for good measure (leaving all excess on). This was amazing - the tire even spun easier! This protectant should help prevent the boot from cracking earlier than it should (IMO).

I plan on doing this trick @ every oil change and hopefully get more life out of my boots and CVs. I am sure that Armerall would work to, but the 303 stuff seems to last longer on other items I have used it on. I bought this stuff when I bought the Retrax thinking I would use it on the cover - but this is a way cooler use. The boots are slippery and shinny - now they are repelling dirt and grit, plus giving that rubber much needed moisture.

Thanks for the tip.

I learn this trick from J.C. Whitney catalog "shop tip" years ago.

Normally, I would carwash including all CV boots one day before oil change.

Not sure what a "303 Aerospace Protectant" is but silicon spray works for me.

CV boots should last 100K+ (for FWD cars) this way.
