Suspension & AxleTechnical discussions regarding alignment, stock and modified suspensions, lift kits, axles, hub conversions, gearing and steering.
This is a discussion thread titled "another lift kit problem", within the Suspension & Axle forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I've tried searching and haven't found much on this, so I though I'd post a new thread and see if anyone else has had this problem and how they fixed it.
Anyway, the problem is with a my front suspension. When I come off of even a small bump or pothole my front suspension slams back down pretty hard. It doesn't sound good at all!! This started after installing a Toytec 3" spacer lift on my 04 Tundra access cab 4x4. Installed by 4 wheel parts. I'm thinking of removing the top spacer and going down to 2 1/2" lift. any other ideas?:
It's the size of the spacer in the coil pack that is causing this, not the one on the outside. Yes everyone has heard of this, it is called compressing a spring more than stock and then releasing it quickly it will move at an accelerated speed thus making the slam. I had the same problem with the cornfeds.
If you get a daystar kit instead you won't see this problem so much because they use a smaller spacer in the coil pack and a larger one on the outside.

I noticed the same thing on my DC. However, I have had mine on for about five weeks now and have noticed the springs have started to soften up. Just an observation. Also, do you have AAL's in the rear? That could be applying more compression than necessary which also could be a contributing factor.

yup, I have the 1.5" add a leaf. It sounds like this is pretty common with a spacer lift. I think I'll take out the top spacer and and hopefully the spring will soften up after a while.

It looks like both spacers are inside the pack to me, but I don't know jack about suspension. It looks the same as this picture www.toyteclifts.com/install3.html
