Default 09309-37010-01 Transmission Bearing Replacer

Does anyone know how this Toyota special service tool works when using it to install a new ball joint. The tool is specified in the toyota service manual. I am trying to figure out how it works. It looks like a socket so I can't figure out how it is used to press the upper ball joint into place.
