Default Need shock help

Hey guys I have done some searching but can find the answer to my questions so here goes. I am pretty sure I have a blown shock in my rear but how do I know for sure? Also when I go to buy replacements how do I know what size to buy for my lifted 2wd application ? If anybody can shed some light on this subject for a lost soul it would be greatly appreciated .

Eric

Can't help you on the blown shock part. But how high is your truck lifted in the rear. I know that the bilstien 5100's are good for upto 2" of lift and bolt up to the stock locations.

If you took the shock off and compressed it and it didn't push back out, I would say they are . Is there a lot of oil on the shock body? Another sign that the shock is blown.

Not sure how it is on a 2WD but when I only had about 1.5" of lift in the rear of my 4x4 an 8" travel shock was perfect. Anything more, the shock would bottom out.

Took the shock off today and it is ok, although the factory bilsteins are not stiffest. Squeak is still there coming from the leaf spring bushing, however.

Thanks for your help Mike
