Suspension & AxleTechnical discussions regarding alignment, stock and modified suspensions, lift kits, axles, hub conversions, gearing and steering.
This is a discussion thread titled "Sell my dirtbike for lift?", within the Suspension & Axle forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
Ok so this is my first post but Ive been checking out the forums for weeks and thanks to everyone for all the info.
Im 17, I just bought an 01 Tundra and the owner before me really messed up the Fabtech coilovers. The guys at my local shop said it loosk liek someone tried fabricating their own spacers etc. Anyway long story short, Im done driving around with some frankenstein parts. RCD is what Im looking at but I cant really afford that...at all. Unless I sell my dirtbike.
The only reason I dont want to is because well, its one of my prized possesions and I dont really need a truck without a dirtbike.
My question (sorry it took so long) is.....Is the RCD 6" lift worth the money and the performance. If not what is better.
I wouldn't do it. Like you said, it's one of your prized possesions and without it, you pretty much don't need the truck. Have you looked into any other more affordable lift options?

What do you want the truck to do??? Is it for looks or Function. RCD is more along the lines of looks. Because it is basically a stock truck just sitting higher. Please do not get offended those with RCD. If you want to off road it ALOT then another lift would be better. What kind of offroading are you going to do??? Rocks or high speed desert???
I would not sell it because I sold mine in order to buy my first car and never got another bike And I really want one now

You'll regret selling your bike. I'd say get the truck back to stock first if you are concerned about the parts that are on it. If it's not that much of a concern, I'd just run it like it is and save money until I had enough for the lift.
Don't sell the bike. The Tundra and its performance, and appearance are important, but nothing beats riding. I have a lot of fun with my Tundra in the dirt, but a good day of riding is far more rewarding. Approaching college age and the stress that comes with it, you'll need the bike. Great stress relief. Keep your eye on the classifieds. There are always a lot of good deals on some clean used coilovers and such. It can be done without a ton of money. Good Luck!
Alright so those are most of the points I saw when I was weighing it out. Im pretty sure Im not going to sell it, just save up and enjoy it more when I can finnaly buy the lift...but as far as what Id use it for....nothing more than what I come accross on a fire road, but at the same time....I do go down and ride in the Mojave often...I guess less rocks and more high speed? Suggestions?

Start w/ some good coilovers and upper arms then some Deavers and nice shocks for the rear. If you really want to fly thru the desert, then you'll want a badass long travel kit, but you'll end up spending waaaaaaay more than the RCD after you get done with the front and rear.

Okay so since the Fabtech coils might be under warranty should I stick with those or go with something else? And how much ride and travel will the upper arms help with this?
Ive been researching and Im going to SAVE UP and get the Camburg Peroformance kit (with the uniballs and coils) and a spacer maybe for a little lift if that works, then some sort of spring lidt in the back to get rid of the annoying squeak the stock ones make. Anyway just a follow up I guess and thanks to everyone for the advice.
