Default Thinking of lifting my truck...

I have an 04 Dbl Cab 4x4 TRD that I am thinking about lifting. I have Ivan Stewart rims on it. I want to put 285's on it. Probably will not be doing much off road driving (mainly for looks). Will I be able to get the lift I need from either:
A. TUNDRA 2000 THRU 2006 4X4 V8 DOUBLE CAB OR ACCESS CAB 2 3/4in. LIFT WITH PRO COMP ADD-A-LEAFS AND DIFFERENTIAL DROP DOWN SPACERS
http://extremetrucktoys.com/tun_lift_2.htm
B. Confed Suspension 2.5" complete lift kit
http://www.cornfedsuspension.com/
I like the EZ lift becasue it seems easier to install (no spring compressor). I have used Cornfed before on my Tacoma but it was a PITA to use the spring compressor. But it worked good.
Or should I go with this:
C. Leave it alone (keep 265/75s on it with no lift).

Which lift did you put on the front?

Default Re: Thinking of lifting my truck...

I'm also looking into lift options for my DC.

i was looking at a truxx lift, which is similar to the Ez lift, which is much cheaper.

but it sounds like it might not be a good way to go.
here's more on that.

truxxx lift kit

i currently have the 2" cornfed on mine. i also have the 1/2" spacer that i never installed, since i didn't want to push the 2" mark much, and i didn't know about the diff drop kit back then or i would have done both.

my 285's fit fine. they slightly rubbed the mudflaps so i removed them. in normal driving they are no problem, but if you plan on going off road, they will rub if you hit a dip too hard.

i'm looking at my options to give just a bit more lift to avoid that rub.

i like the look much better even with stock tires. it sounds like the cornfed 2 1/2" might work well for you.

it will be a stiffer ride as opposed to coilovers, but it's a lot cheaper.

i hear ya about the spring compressors. if i added that 1/2" spacer too, then i wouldn't have to buy coilovers... decisions decisions....

Racerx, you have any pictures of your truck? Either kit, I will be putting the diff drop kit on. I just don't want to spend all that money and it turns out to rub or something.

it's not quite a sideshot, but it should do.
since this pic i added the black headlights too.

with the 2 1/2" kit and diff drop, you'll be good to go.

the only reason i'm looking into plan b at this point is i live off a dirt road and it can get pretty bumpy sometimes. some of the washes are pretty steep and if i hit them too fast it will rub.
on the road it's a nice ride and handles well in turns. never had any rubbing problems on pavement, even on bumpy roads with dips.

The 2" lift I had some cheap coilovers, the 2.5" lift I switched to Teamwest Sway Away coilovers.

I would go with the EZ ride suspesion. Thats what I have in mine and it rides alot smoother than when I had just the front leveling kit in it. It looks great and still as somewhat of a stock ride to it. I run 285/75/16's under it with no rubbing problems. Good luck with your decision.

Don't think that is the same EZ lift.

Default I have picked the lift out...

I found a member on the board who has the lift I like. TIE-YOTA has it. http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forum...pictures-lift/ 3" Toytec Lift with 1.5 AAL's in the back. Very nice looking. Now I have to get one more question answered before I get it. His truck has aftermarket rims on it. I have Ivan Stewart rims on mine. I guess it is a matter of offset. Will the 285s fit on my rims without hitting the control arms? If the tires don't fit, then I am just going to get a leveling lift and keep my 265/75s on it. Just got to finish my research and maybe somebody can answer my last question.

Default Re: Thinking of lifting my truck...

have you considered wheel adapters instead? only need one pair (for the front), they would give you an effective backspacing of i think 3.5" (i think stock is 5", but i'm not certain), and you can run the 285s without giving up your ivan rims. there is nothing wrong with running a 285 on a 7" rim...i'm running a 315 on an 8" rim. it just acts as a little bit of a beadlock.

the adapters are very sturdy. plenty of desert and trail guys use them. i got mine from aor4x4, around 200 bucks including shipping i think. 3.5" backspacing seems to be fine, plenty of guys here run 3.5" to fit 285 or 315 without hitting the uca or the frame.

I found out that they will fit without spacers. Member student's tundra has them on his. We will see.
