yes they do, and leaving the bar connected offroad is a great way to bend it.

brian at front range offroad sells very high quality discos, frontrangeoffroadfab.com

I beg to differ, I always disconnect when I hit the dunes with my donahoes, makes such a difference if your hitting anything sideways. Street wise there is more body roll, but it "holds" once you reach a certain point. I love it disconected on the street when I hit driveways at an angle, because instead of your truck tossing you it just plops right in, very smoothly.

bumping old threads.... woot!

I've been doing my homework on swaybars and have read enough to understand the good points to using an anti-sway bar and the bad points to overcompensating the sway and why I don't want the bar hooked up while on the trail. Reducing camber on corners is a benefit to anyone taking a turn over 10mph. I really hate feeling like I'm going to fall out of my door if I don't hold on to my armrest when making a hard right. But slamming a rock on one side and feeling it as an 8" speedbump, I don't want either.

If I get a hellwig or something like it, I'm also going to want a disconnect kit from somewhere like frontrangefab. The kit costs 3/4 as much as the swaybar kit and they say you replace everything but the bar itself. Uhh...
You think I could pick up a bar from a junk yard or have one fab'd for me for cheaper than the whole kit? After install of your bar and install of the disconnect, you have a lot of extra parts now right?

Or do I even need the disconnect? My truck doesn't see many trails in southeast VA, it does see a lot of beach and deep sand though.

This is a worthwhile mod from the reviews, but does the gain outweigh the loss?

Thanks for reading.

Honestly for beaches, dunes and fire roads, the swaybar won't hold back a stock travel front end.

So would you recommend disconnecting the Hellwig if you have 2.5 Teamwest up front and soon Bilsteins and AAL 3 pack from Donahoe in the back?

From my own personal experience...I probably didn't notice the front swaybar much, since when I was running harder trails the truck was pretty heavy.

2"-2.5" adjustment to the ride height isn't going to hurt. If you're regularly going offroad, or go higher than 2.5" or so, the end links will slowly take a bend and will eventually break if you don't put a heim joint (or something) at the upper end of the link. Both mine were bent, a few guys have broken theirs.

If you have uniballs, get/make disconnects for the front or remove the swaybar if you're usually offroad.

If you don't go offroad, there's no need to disconnect the rear swaybar at all. If you do go offroad, suck it up and get the FROR discos or make your own. The FROR kit doesn't AFAIK replace the brackets or the u-bolts, just the end links.
