Default tundra body lift labor time?

Does anybody know how long and what is all involved in a body lift installation for a 2001 v8 tundra 4x4 AC? i have done a body lift with a few friends on an old cj, a new jeep, and a dodge ram, but never a new yota...could you direct me to any links on here or previous discussions that have followed or documented a full installation...thank you

also, any links to anyone who has done a 3" coil spacer with 3" body lift? what size tires can you fit? thank you...hows it look? recommendations?

I'm still at 285/75/16s. One of these days I'll move on up.

hey Istan, p.s., those tires are sweet, how much did those cost you a piece? do you find those better, or why'd you choose those over other tires? thanks

Can't really say on the BL. I did the "remove those screws, lift, move that there" work while the real mechanics did it. I think I'm sitting a little above 5.5 now, should be able to fit 35s. I just went backwards, bought 33's then needed to lift to fit 33's.

Tires, truth be told.. I got them at an amazing price.. hence why I bought it befmore the lift. They'be been riding great for the last 9/10 months.

Will you have help or be doing it solo?

I installed my BL in about 6hrs, doing 85% solo- but needed some help towards the end. Be real sure all the cab and bed bolts are all the way loose before you try to jack them up to make room for the spacers.

I ran 35's with 2.0 saws kranked up to 2" above stock and the 3" BL- still had to trim the pinch weld ares and even with less backspacing got frame rub at full turn.

i'm sure no one will argue with this, that you have the sweetest ride on here man...you seem like the TS Godfather...so godfather, here are my plans...my tundra is just gonna be my daily driver, i am planning to buy an old 69-72 blazer eventually, and completely restore it/use for offroading, not sure which, haha, anyways, but i want to make the tundra look beautiful of course, but i won't need it to do harcore offroading, and i don't want it to be loud and obnoxious like the K5 will be, sooo...i'm debating between just adding a 3" spacer lift and 285's on stock rims, saving money for the K5, orrr saving a little less money, and going for a 3" spacer and 3" body with 35's on some classic II's, i know that's pretty sketchy, a lot of nylon, haha, but a lot cheaper than running a full 5inch kit...but, i've done body lifts before, and i know how much of a pain they are, especially on trucks, so i was curious just how much of a pain they are on tundras? will i have to weld? will i have to extended shifters? i have most tools, but what kind of hardcore tools will i need...i will have a couple buddies who can help me, but they'll more be there for beer support..."that looks good man/i wouldn't do that man/pass another beer man/right on man", one of those guys...ok, that's enough blabbering...i guess all i'm asking is, is 3"and 3" just stupid, and wil just a 3" spacer with 285's be plently, just asking for advice from the Godfather...thank you

I did mine on my 05 d-cab in about 3 evenings and a morning completely myself, unless you count the help from my 5 year old daughter.

Probably had about 12 hours into it, but had some issues that you will not with the extra cab. I posted a write up a while ago.

2005 double cab body lift

I am running 315's on 16x8 rims with 4" BS. I adjusted the steering stops to stop the frame rub and cut out some plastic and the pinch weld right out and welded up the seam. I have no lift in the rear with adjustable bilsteins cranked about an inch in the front. If you want 35's you will have to do some trimming....even with spacers if you do not rub on the road, you will still rub on full suspension compression. That said trimming with a BL is pretty cheap and easy compared to a drop down suspension kit. Good luck.

ps go for th 35's, I know you want too

No welding needed, if you have an auto tranny no shifter extensions. I good bottle jack, big enough to reach. If not you can always just stack some lumber. The most tedious part is tearing down the radiator and the other various linkages to completely free up the body. My bed bolts were tuff to break loose- I actually broke 2 sockets trying to get em off

As far as the lift if you just want some bigger meats but dont "need" 35's do coilovers or spacers and run 285's. The K5 project sounds worth saving your coin for.

For 315's you need a 8" or 9" wheel

Default Re: tundra body lift labor time?

but technically...if i did go for the 3sl + 3bl(which doesn't sound that tooo difficult, which is what i wanted to hear), then i could fit 35's with an 8" rim of course...would that not be too sketchy...is it too much stretching, i've done it on a ram, 3" spacer w/ 3" body, just not on a toyota before...but, i'm just asking, could it be done, and do you think it would be pretty decent, and how much do you think i would save over just doing a full 6" kit, like the RCD or the 5" or 4.5" TuffC...thanks

Come on Mike, how many more replies do you want...GET R' DUN !!!!

I will give you another .02$...I was also considering the RCD kit but had done the 3+3 with 35's on my 01 Dcab...you can get a 3" BL coil-overs and gears for about the same or less than the price of the RCD, and have a better performing suspension than with a drop down bracket suspension kit. Not knockin the RCD kit...I was on the verge of ordering one myself, but decided to save some $$$.
