Default 5" tuff country lift kit pros and cons...

i am seriously considering investing in this lift. i was thinkin about going for the 6" RCD but for 1k less and only 1" less total lift i just wanted to see what the differences were.

to those that have it on, does it ride like stock, handling and stiffness wise? if you wanted to later, would you be able to add an extra 3" in a body lift?

besides these 2 brands tuff country and RCD, are there any other brands that make a 5-6" lift for an 01 tundra?

AS far as adding a bodylift, you can with the TC lift. Everyone seems to be going with the RCD ever since it came out. I have the TC and have had no problems. Now it comes with the spindles which makes it even better than the first line. I didnt realize there was that much of a price diff between the 2 kits. Couldn't say about the ride, because I change my coilovers immediately, so mine does not ride stock. Hope I helped a little. The RCD guys will chime in soon and let you know how great the RCD kit is- LOL

Are you finding the T/C lift with the replacement spindles for this quoted price of $1k less than the RCD lift?

I don't remember the T/C lift being $1300.00 with the replacement spindles.

i purchased the RCD for just over $2300.00.

As for ride, the RCD comes with Bilstein 5100 shocks on all 4 corners and you reuse the OEM springs. Rear gets a block so the ride basically stays pretty much the same but with better shocks.

Check to make sure you are getting the spindle replacement kit at that price. If you are then pick it up, that's cheap and I know of a few people on this board that have been running that kit for a long time.

Leathernuts obviously being one of them.

Default Re: 5" tuff country lift kit pros and cons...

I called Tuff Country this week and confirmed the new 5" kit for '05-'06 Tundras was ready and they were shipping orders. This was good news! So I asked the price...they couldn't give me one as they dont have a MSRP... I thought that was strange, they told me to call a dealer...so I did. One shop I called came back with $1800 and the other was $1900, uninstalled of course and I think the $1900 included the rear shocks. It's a little more than the 4.5" lift but way worth it! In fact if you search the net you'll find the 4.5" kit on sale...I think they are dumping them knowing everyone wants the 5" now. I found a good price at http://http://www.suspensionconnecti...tion/to=r.html

So I guess you have to ask yourself what do you want:

TC 4.5" $1300
TC 5" $1550 ('99-03) or $1900 ('05-'06)
RCD $2300

My dilemma is that I already have 2" SAW coilovers and can use them with the TC lifts but not the RCD. Also, I have 18x9 w/ 4.5" b.s wheels and don't think they will work with the RCD. So I think I might go for the TC 5" and use the SAW's, probably turned up a little.

I decided to go searching for the new 05-06 5" Tuff Country lift kits and I found a place that has them for $1478. This includes the new spindles too. I'm actually thinking about buying it now.

Rocky Mountain Suspension Products, Toyota suspension lift kits

and yes I have bought from these guys before and they had very good customer serice.

Hey thanks for the link! I'm seriously thinking of getting it now!!

Do you have a part number for the needed rear shocks...or better yet other rear shock options?

You will save $100 if you buy it from Rocky Mountain Suspension Products...

Just make sure the back spacing on your wheels will work. I believe no more than 4.5" will work.
