Has anyone replaced the rear shocks on a land cruiser? How do you access the top nut. I find a entry port beneath the rear seat and carpet but am not sure what to do there. I'm guessing it could be the same on a Sequoia, and if so, if anyone has experience with either of these vehicles, I could use some suggestions. I got the front on with a little difficulty but am unclear on the rear.
I finally had a chance to look at this in the daylight. I was wrong about access through the floor under the seat. That goes to something else. Access to the upper nut on the rear shocks is from beneath and is limited on the drivers side, but much easier than the passsenger side. The passenger side is a b___h. The exhaust pipe obscures your vision and dramatically limits space to move. A 7/8 racheting wrench would have been worth any price if I could have found one. It took me about 4 hours to replace all 4 shocks with Bilstein HD's. The ride is considerably better than with the OEM's.(Second set at 118k). They eliminated the sway on turning and actually smoothed out the ride noticeably compared to the OEM's. I bought them on
ebay from Shock&spring.com for $249.00 with free shipping. He shipped promptly, btw. Part #'s were BE5-2739H1 for the front and 2740 for the rear.
