Default Shocks ok to trash?

Are my non-TRD shocks ok to toss in the trash? At this point I am just tossing the rears. The fronts are still assembled with the springs and I'll keep them a little longer.

Are there any explosion or environmental hazards associated with them? I need to make room and get rid of them.

I've always pitched them. They are nitrogren charged with fluid in them. The nitrogen is inert. You don't want to puncture or incinerate them as they will go boom (not explosive, just under high pressure). Since you can't safely cut them open to drain out the fluid, you have to just pitch them as-is.

I should have checked google before posting. A quick search revealed that the shocks have to be drained and then the fluid be disposed of like used motor oil. Bilstein, monroe, and other mfgs all have specific instructions on their web sites.

who makes the non-trd versions?
