Default New! Rancho Adj Coilover Shock!

Just received an e-mail about a new adjustable coilover shock for our Tundras. It claims up to 2-1/2 inch of height adjustment AND you can adjust the rebound and compression dampening. it works with your stock coils. Retails for $189 per shock. They are called Rancho RS 9000 Triple XXX. Visit Rancho for details. I am interested in seeing how the adjustable coilover perch is mounted - (welded or snap ring mounted like the Bilsteins.) I have e-mailed Rancho and will let everyone know what I find out.

This sounds quite compelling, and possibly an even better option than the Bilstein BTS-7514, particularly if the Rancho 9000XXX uses the same remote adjustment system that the 9000 uses (option). I've always drooled over the idea of adjusting the compression and rebound from inside the cab.

Please keep us posted - if you talk with them, please ask about the application for the 2005 Double Cab 4WD - this seems to be the trickiest fit for suspension components, as it is significantly heavier than the other Tundras...

Thanks!

I HAVE EMAILED RAncho 2 times and they have not responded. I guess I'll try to call them and get the info that way.

I talked to Rancho today, I spet about 15 minutes trying to reach a live person and I finally did. The following is what the tech/ customer support guy told me.

The 9000xxx will be available the beginning of April. The design is similar to s the Bilstein Pre Load Adjustable shock, the perch is NOT welded in place. Also, these shocks claim they are adjustable once installed, but according to tech support they can only be adjusted before installation. Every time you want to adjust them you need to remove them. Basically, I think this is Ranchos answer to the Bilstein pre load adjustable shocks. The 9000xxx should retail for $99 a piece.

Rancho also has another product coming out in April called Quick Lift. These are going to use the stock coil spring but the spring perches ARE welded to the shock. These will come in different ride heights for different vehicles. These are supposed to retail for about $200 a piece!

GoRancho.com

I also called Bilstein coporate office today and talked to Shane in the Off Road Dept. According to him the pre load adjustable shocks will lift a DC 2wd up to 2.5" While the Bilstein coilovers will lift a DC a max of 1.25". I think for the money you can't beat the Bilstein pre load adjustable, I am purchasing a pair next week. Granted I will be doing zero off roading with these.

Hope this helps clear up some questions.

Thanks for the post - this helps fill in some details. Interesting that the "Quick Lift" product will be double the price of the 9000 Triple X though it does not include a spring and is not adjustable.. Since Rancho touts the internals of the 9000 shock as being their "best" for normal applications (non-racing), I am wondering why the Quick Lift is scheduled to be so much more expensive (where's the value-add of not including a spring, and not being adjustable?). It would have to be a better built unit with a wider application range, or something like that...

They have a picture and specs on these two types of shocks if you navigate the site. The spring perch is threaded similar looking to adjustable coilovers.
