Default 01 Tundra 4x4 Suspension Question

I bought my tundra with 68k on it... it's up to 75k now.... a 2001 Access cab 4x4 (non TRD)

My dad purchased an 04 4x4 Double cab w/ TRD package a week ago... it sits noticeably higher then my tundra does (same size tires, I have aftermarket wheels though)

I started to notice other Tundras in town, and most of the TRD's sit higher then my non TRD truck.... is this simply due to the shocks or is something else going on?

I do moderate offroading, but nothing where the truck can't get already -- what would be a good replacment shock if needed? I have used Rancho's in the past, but never on a toyota.

The double cab is a taller truck without any changes.

I don't remember the TRD being any taller than the non with the same tire size. I don't think the TRD shocks are any taller, just stiffer.

The bilsteins are a good upgrade.

You may be able to squeeze a taller tire on there or look into one of several lifts if you want to be taller or fit a larger tire.

IIRC the TRD package has stiffer springs.

Thanks guys.... I am waiting to hear back more on the new bilstine 5100's..... I figure those with some TRD springs woudl be exactly what I'm looking for.... however I want to make sure those new shocks can handle 4wheeling duty and street duty.

5100s should handle anything you are going to throw at it just fine and have a nice attitude on the pavement.
