I'm wondering if I can change me HU and then put the Changer in the dash?

I installed a pioneer hu and installed a 6-disk changer in the console compartment between the front seats. The changer was too wide to install in a din slot with the hu. Pioneer makes a din sized 6-disk changer if you don't already have one.
