planing on buying the truck. I need a long bed and like that this truck has some of the off road mods. He told me it was a TRD Off Road, so now I have a barging chip knowing it's not. Having the build sheet in hand will surely surprise him.

The electric locker would be a PIA to install, as it tied into the ECM/BCM, speed sensor even on 2WD's. Perhaps the PO thought he needed switch and went ahead an popped it into the dash opening, or added it to try and fool folks. Could have been trying to attract that certain breed of woman who will only throw herself at a true MAN; one with a locking diff, as any other would only father her inferior offspring.
One thing to do pertaining to the diff, the electric actuated diff has a rather large motor or solenoid on the front of the carrier housing, versus the open or limited slip looking normal. If the dealer paid more for the truck on the assumptions that it had more options than it does, that does not mean You have to. It is worth what it is worth.

Hi all, well I bought the mystery truck and very happy with it. Still a bit confused as it has all of the TRD off road options except the sport seats, compass, and rear deck power outlet.

The build sheet shows SR 5 package with options alloy 16"wheels,6 disc CD changer, limited slip rear, and tow package. All except limited slip on truck....is there a switch for this or not? I have an "RR" switch only.

I added a sport hood to really mess with other Tacoma owners heads.

Here's some photos: Yahoo! Photos - georgespropercussion's Photos - 2006 Toyota Tacoma

Thanks again to all who helped me, George

Glad you are happy with it, and congrats!

As previously suspected, you have the SR5, with options. Why do you say you don't have the lsd that's on the build sheet? Limited-slip is fully contained within the differential housing, and has no activation switch; it works as needed.

Your "RR" switch has been added by a PO and either does nothing, or is wired to something you haven't found yet. Look behind it and see if there are wires -- if there are, trace them.
