TacomaGeneral discussion forum for the 2005 and later Toyota Tacoma.
This is a discussion thread titled "Tacoma Tow Truck", within the Tacoma forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I saw something interesting today, a Double Cab Tacoma Tow Truck.
It didn't have the big arm thing in the back, just the part that attaches at the back.
I wish I knew the terminology.
Its the thing that drops down, slides up to your tires, then the tires clamp to that part.
I wonder what you could tow with a Tacoma?
Maybe a Mini, or a motorcycle.

There are times when a mini can get the vehicle out of a tight parking garage a larger unit could not.
Even with the rear suspension blocked it would leverage and lift the front. We had a short wheel base unit that we put A LOT of weight on the front bumper and it still tried to pop a wheely
That thing sliding out is called the wheel lift, it puts all the weight behind the rear wheel (like towing), not very efficient unless you have heavy duty suspension. When using a sling (with the boom) it will put the weight in the middle of the truck (like a fifth wheel).
I'll do my best to chase it down and snap a few if i see it again.
