2009 Model - In June of 08 ??

Anyone else heard this?

I just started shopping for a Tacoma double cab short bed with the off road package. One dealer I went to showed me a sheet that said the '08 models would be unchanged, with an '09 model to be out in June of '08 with minor changes.

I've heard that the '09 will feature some minor changes to the grille, lights etc. But in June of '08? Just wondering if anyone has heard this too? Why the mid year release? This usually happens when there are powertrain changes that aren't ready for prime time with the model year.

I would wait for factory heated leather seats and perhaps a better premium radio with ipod interface and heated mirrors for cryin' out loud. It is a real pain to clear ice & snow off of the mirrors while you are driving down the road. What were you thinking Toyota? This IS a 4 wheel drive package, you think someone might take it out in snow & ice once in awhile? Sorry for the rant.

I find it hard to believe the dealer would be privy to that information. Normally, Toyota is very conscious of not letting model change info out to the dealers or public early. If history is any indication of the future, Toyota will not release that info until late summer or early fall at the earliest. Doubt there will be any changes to the 08' that would cause many potential buyers to wait.

I live in the NE Ohio and I have to say not having the heated mirrors(at least not this winter) wasn't a big issue. I can't remember a single time where they 'iced up' or even 'fogged up' and said to myself I wished I had that feature. Maybe; however, going forward at some point in the future, I may have a different opinion.

I was skeptical too, normally don't listen to much that the dealers say. This guy seemed OK though, admitted when he didn't know something and didn't exaggerate or try to pressure me. What he showed me did look official though.

I have a CR-V that does not have heated mirrors and both vehicles that I drove before had them and I really miss them. Seems that we get a lot of freezing rain here and I find myself using them a lot in the winter.
