TacomaGeneral discussion forum for the 2005 and later Toyota Tacoma.
This is a discussion thread titled "Tacoma Navigation System", within the Tacoma forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I am looking for a navigation system for my 2005 Tacoma X runner.. prefer something double din that still looks remotely close to factory.. Saw a picture of an Eclipse nav in a tacoma a while back that looked great. Anyone know any systems that look/ work great in a Tacoma ? and any pics?
also... There is not a compatible OEM system from Toyota that will work right? Thanks for your help!

I have the Alpine double din and love it. Search my username for my last post I had pictures in it.
Was it a simply plug-and-play or did you have to modify anything?
Pretty much plug and play. I have the factory JBL system so I had to get a Metra TYTO-01 adapter and plug it in between the factory harness and the Pioneer harness. I also modded the headunit so I can use the nav and play DVDs while the vehicle is in motion. I've got the iPod adapter and blue tooth adapter installed too.
^ looks great...does your steering wheel controls still work?
thanks
Thanks! Yeah, the steering wheel controls still work with this adapter.
EDIT: One thing I'd like to mention with the PAC adapter is that the response from the Pioneer is a little laggy compared to the stock set up. It's not a huge deal, but I figured I'd put it out there.

Is the Pioneer the only one that would work with the steering wheel controls?
pac mod controls all types of Factory controls Not just Pioneer do some research on it from the net and type that as a search and it will pretty well explain that.
