TacomaGeneral discussion forum for the 2005 and later Toyota Tacoma.
This is a discussion thread titled "Proof that Stealerships are RIP OFF Artists!!!", within the Tacoma forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I was at the local stealership this morning and they had a "USED" 2007 Tacoma Tacoma that had 5232 miles on it. They had a sticker on the truck for $30,995. The dummies at the dealership had actually left the original window sticker on the seat of the truck and the original sales sticker showed that the truck BRAND NEW was only $28012.53 even after all the dealer add ons (and not factoring in any rebates).
Basically they are selling a “used” truck with 5232 miles on it for several thousand dollars more then the truck originally would have sold for with 0 miles on it. I double checked and the vins were exactly the same on the truck and both stickers (including the one that was inside the truck.)
Now that is just plain crap!!!!
I guess they have to charge you for the privilege of having someone break the truck in for you.
Re: Proof that Stealerships are RIP OFF Artists!!!
Sticker really doesnt mean a whole lot.
The sticker on my truck was like 28 but since it was the last day of the month I and they didn't have the color I wanted I talked them down to basically cost. 24,900.
Spoke to a guy 2 weeks later than had bought his that day EXACT same model in white...he paid 27,400.
Re: Proof that Stealerships are RIP OFF Artists!!!
I marked the name of the dealership off since they are listed as a "preferred dealer" on the site. If you want to know the name of the dealer take a look at my dealer name that is listed "my garage" in the post.

Or just call the phone number and listen to how they answer the phone .. you didn't mark that off... That's funny though having the origional sticker in the front seat.

It's my understanding ... although I may be wrong ... that if the vehicle had not been "titled" .... that the 5000+ miles was a "DEMO" ... that the original window sticker has to be delivered with the truck ... I may be wrong as I said.

your right! I've seen this before. One honda dealership had a used accord that was listed higher than the new ones. I asked why and the salesman(who I knew pretty good) just said that most people don't know the prices.

Since when has anyone paid sticker for a vehicle? Especially on a used vehicle. In any purchase, its buyer beware. Research and know what you are buying. Knowledge is strengh.
You know any sales person can give you 50% off any item. They just doulble the price before you buy.
