This is a discussion thread titled "Toytec lift and 285/75/16, do I need spacers??", within the Tacoma forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I am planning on adding a toytec 3" lift to my tacoma, I also want to add BFG's 285/75/16s on my stock rims. I need to know if I will run into problems doing this, or if I will need to add spacers or adapters to make the tires fit? Anyone with this setup or opinions please let me know.
Re: Toytec lift and 285/75/16, do I need spacers??
i ran that setup for a while and would first of all suggest the coil spring lift over the spacer lift. it provides a more factory ride than the harshness of the spacers. the 285/75/16's wont fit without wheels spacers(i went with 1.25'' spacers), but they will fit the stock offroad rims. without spacers they only rub when turning approaches a full or tight turn, it would be difficult making some U-turns without making it a 2-point. make sure to get the diff drop from toytec also. good luck
Re: Toytec lift and 285/75/16, do I need spacers??
you really feel the bumps in the road. the steering wheel for me was vibrating constantly. i dont know, it really seemed like i had little suspension flex and all was really tight but that was when i ran the stock UCA's and my truck was like \*****/. i went straight from stock with the spacers and the AAL's to the coilovers with the new uca's and leafpacks, so it's hard to say how much the UCA's and the misalignment affected my ride. i suspect you would be best off and save more money with a coil spring (not coil spacer) lift and some new UCA's cause you will need them to get a proper alignment at any more than like 2'' of lift. hope this helps...
