TacomaGeneral discussion forum for the 2005 and later Toyota Tacoma.
This is a discussion thread titled "Wheels on SR5 2WD access cab", within the Tacoma forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
Which wheels come with the a 07 Tacoma Access Cab 2WD w/ SR5 pkg. Are they the same as bare bones model? I'm looking to trade my 04 Tundra but want to make sure before putting money on the table.
Thanks,
Motoretro

As flyman states 2WD Access cab gets 15" styled wheels, 2WD reg cab NON PreRuner get plain steel wheels, although in most areas the styled steel wheels are packaged together with the air conditioning. PreRunners get 16". When you state 2WD, let everyone know what chassis you are talking about.
Steel wheels... I am going thru the same thing and downsizing my Tundra. You've got to upgrade to get the better wheels which MSRP is another $400.

PreRunner or not?, sounds like the PreRunner/4wd to me as the alloys are a 400.00 retail stand alone option on SR5 if not a TRD,along with port and dealer installed choices. Reg cab PreRunners with or without SR5 don't appear to have any upgrades, just 16x7 styled steel with P245/75-16. Get the vehicle trim and drivetrain you want, the "parts for sale" section on this and other sites will yeild plenty of takeoff for good prices.
This is not a Pre-Runner. Just thought you would get something a bit nicer than undersized 15" steel wheels on truck when selecting $$pricey SR5 package....Tacomas are getting expensive....

Upgrade to TRD Package and the alloy wheels are standard and with the other options you get, it is only a little more than just getting the Prerunner SR5 and just adding Alloy Factory wheels.

Do you specifically want the small chassis 2WD versus the PreRunner?, the P/Rnr is only 760.00 (list) more for 2.7L 4cyl with manual trans. For this you get a stronger frame, quite a bit bigger F & R brakes, higher stance for better visabillity in trafic, more suspension travel, same EPA MPG, 16X7 wheels w/P245/75-16 tires, common 6 lug wheel pattern with tons of takeoff wheels or wheel/tires combos, fender flares (like em or not). Only weighs 210lbs more and in real life it prob gives up 1 MPG highway due to higher stance. I don't know invoice cost for difference in reg 2WD and P/Rnr 2WD but it is prob 550.00-600.00. I don't offroad my trucks, but an occasional drive across pasture or an inner city pothole is much less drama with taller tires/wheels and more suspension travel. You will still get steel wheels with the P/Rnr 4cyl (or 6cyl w/o TRD) but the steel wheels look decent for steel. the alloy wheels are a stand alone option for 400.00 or the ads here usually have plenty for sale.
True... the prerunner is available though in the access/reg cab with the 2.7L; however, only with a manual tranny; and as LRH said..not with the TRD or SPORT package. Here's a complete list of the available trim packages... courtesy of NADA:

I believe only 1 less mpg is a pretty big stretch..... 210 Lbs more, much higher stance and the biggest flaw, the jump from to 3:31 to 4:10 rear gear ratio. My guess is the MPG is going to be 3-4 mpg less on the Pre-runner in the real world.
