Cant say Ive ever seen an air filter like this..

..went to replace the filter on the Tacoma. Opened the lid and saw this side of hte filter. I said to myself..Hmm..not bad..

I pull it completely out. OH MY GOD!

I really cant say Ive ever seen that before.

Umm was that a dead bird and a quarter in there? I can't say I have ever seen that before either. I have seen animals rest up inside of the engine and get all hacked up though.

There was no animal. Only 1 feather. The bulk of that was the filter material. Looks like somethign chewed it up.

The quarter was for size reference.

Maybe a bird was trying to make a nest in your intake, it happens in heavy equipment. They'll build nests in the exhaust stack too, and when you fire up a big grader PUFF! KFC anyone?

Damn, slight loss in airflow has been restored...

I deal with that every other year either on my sled or lawn tractor. Thankfully not the truck! Mice love airboxes.
