TacomaGeneral discussion forum for the 2005 and later Toyota Tacoma.
This is a discussion thread titled "Why put 110 Volts in a truck?", within the Tacoma forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
Great story, jt.
Is there an easy aftermarket solution to get the 100 outlet in the truck? I didn't know it existed until after the fact and my 07 Taco didn't come with it equipped. I'd really like to put one in, especially after reading about the margaritas
I second this motion! I didnt get the outlet either but I always wanted one. Where is the inverter mounted and anyone know the part # / cost to replace the bed cubby?

Thanks,

Looks like the outlet will run you $163, according to the Conicelli parts center. Then add in the wire. The OEM inverter is mounted under the center console, towards the rear.

Could that be replaced with a 800-1000W model? Or are there control signals running into it / out of it that would not be available in an aftermarket inverter?

I believe this info can be found by doing a search as someone had already posted pics, but since I'm a sharing pack rat...
Its definitely a Toyota made connector. You could probably modify it, but Id imagine it is regulated by something in the dash. I'll have to check the wiring schematic to be sure.
