TacomaGeneral discussion forum for the 2005 and later Toyota Tacoma.
This is a discussion thread titled "Floor Mats -- Toyota OEM Replacements", within the Tacoma forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I thought I'd share my experience for those like I who have been looking for replacement mats. My '07 came with the TRD Off-Road branded charcoal/black cloth mats. They are OK and somewhat thin, however I wanted something different. I've always used the WeatherTech brand of All Weather rubber mats in my other rigs. I've spent the better part of a few days reaching this board and others from what other folks have switched too. I must say the biggest replacement favorite seems to be the Weather Tech floor liners. I probably won't make any friends with this comment, but I just don't like they way they look on the pictures that others have posted. Both the gray and the black look out of place for me. In addition, I question how many times your shoes or pant legs get soaked in the winter time, after the snow melts and your left with a huge puddle sloshing around at your feet. That's why I always liked the one with the channel in them like the Weather Tech all-weather rubbers.
I was getting ready to order them and started seeing a few posts about the Toyota OEM All Weather rubber mats. I saw a few pictures of the ones in black and thought they looked pretty sharp, so I ordered them yesterday and the dealer had them today. I installed them a few hours ago and really like how they fit. They offer the same amount of coverage as the ones that came with the Taco. I like the fact that these have the channels, so liquid can be below where your feet are resting. If I had any complaints, it would be my desire to have the driver's side go further up under the pedals for more coverage there, but that's a minor gripe.
I'll let you guys know how well these perform in the weeks/months to come. Hopefully this post will help others make a decision on replacement floor mats.

Yup, you nailed it. I bought those right after buying our '05, so I've had them a couple winters. Sure could use additional coverage by the skinny pedal, and the carpet on the side of the console shows it. Nothing bad, and it can be cleaned -- just would be nice if it was protected by the mats. Other than that, I'm very happy with them. I heard of one guy who wore through his in a matter of months, but ours are still in great condition.

Yep, I read that too, but got them despite of that. I'm hoping that won't be the case for me. I'm pretty easy on mats, meaning I usually only wear sneakers (tennis shoes for those of you in other parts of the county) and work shoes. Boots are only worn a few times during the year.

Bought my Toyota OEM mats a week after getting my truck and overall like the way they look and work . . . just out of curiosity, what have you guys done with your carpeted ones? Mine? stored away.

I stored mine away too.

I was going to get the OEM rubber mats like I have had in all of our other Toyota trucks. They are very good quality mats that fit. But that was in the fall of 2005. I haven't bought them yet. It's amazing how well the carpet mats hold up and it's even more amazing how well they clean up. I just may not get the rubber mats. I live in the country on a gravel road. The mats take quite a beating.
