The 2.7's strength is it's reliability.
It is not and never will be a racer, but it will work hard and never complain.
I had the older 2.7 in my 2001 taco prerunner, and it was like an apple computer..."It just works"
Simple maintenance, good torque, a little ticking to let you know it is running (harmless).
My 2.7 NEVER went to the dealer for anything at all, and I ragged the crap out of it just before I traded it.
2.7's are really good engines.
