Default FYI, '07 Tacoma 4x4 Drive Train Defect

After reading the thread posted by MEHULLICA on 7/26/07 about possible 2007 Tacoma 4wd driveshaft recall I checked the NHSA, DOT DEFECTIVE VEHICLE WEBSITE:
http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/recalls/results.cfm

I found the following report:

Make : TOYOTA Model : TACOMA Year : 2007
Manufacturer : TOYOTA MOTOR NORTH AMERICA, INC.
NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number : 07V324000
Component: POWER TRAINRIVELINE
Potential Number Of Units Affected : 108
Report Date JUL 24, 2007

SUMMARY:
ON CERTAIN PICKUP TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH FOUR WHEEL DRIVE, A SECTION OF THE REAR PROPELLER SHAFT MAY HAVE BEEN IMPROPERLY CAST.

CONSEQUENCE:
THE FRONT SIDE OF THE REAR PROPELLER SHAFT COULD SEPARATE AT THE JOINT AND COME INTO CONTACT WITH THE ROAD SURFACE WHICH COULD RESULT IN A LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL, INCREASING THE POSSIBILITY OF A CRASH.

REMEDY:
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE REAR PROPELLER SHAFT WITH A NEW ONE FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON OR ABOUT AUGUST 9, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT TOYOTA AT 1-800-331-4331.

NOTES;
CUSTOMERS MAY ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION¿S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), OR GO TO SaferCar.gov - NHTSA.

I contacted Toyota Customer Service and they checked my Vin # against their list and my Tacoma was not on it. But the Toy/CS Rep said that if any defects occurr for my Vin #, I would receive a notice for recall and repair.

I hope this FYI is helpful and many thanks to MEHULLICA for bringing this to our attention on 7/26/07.
