This is a discussion thread titled "Pro Comp Traction Bars", within the Tacoma forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
Does anyone have the Pro Comp Traction Bars for the 05-07 Tacoma's? I have a 6" Pro Comp lift and I can notice some axle wrap, as well as a good bit of wheel hop when I am in the sand. I just wanted to know if anyone had these and if they are worth it. They are almost $400 for the traction bars and the mounting kit, but I think it would be worth it if it was a noticable difference on take off and they reduced the wheel hop. I know Pro Comp says you won't lose any ground clearance with these, is that true? I mean I know the rear diff will be lower than the traction bars, but won't they get in the way if you are trying to straddle a rock or a mound with one side of your truck? Thanks,
Nathan

Thats what I'm wondering as well, whether they will snag on a rock or not. Looking at the pics it looks like they will snag well before the tires can even start crawling over a rock, stump or whatever. Kinda defeats the purpose of trying to set up a truck for off roading.
Man, I love to get a 6" lift but I think it would produce a lot of issues around this area. Already I'm having to clear over hanging branches. Add another 6" and bigger tires Id really have some roof clearance issues. Would be great for clearing some of these Northeast rocks and washouts. I was cringing yesterday every time I put the truck up on a rock. If I had the extra 6" I could have gone up the trail straight line rather then zig zagging all over.

Yah that is what I was worried about. It sure looks like the traction bars are just going to get in the way, however Pro Comp says they "do not reduce ground clearance, unlike other traction bars" and they are designed for off road use. My truck is far from a pavement queen, so I need something that will be of use off road. I mostly want the traction bars to reduce the terrible wheel hop I get in the sand.
Yah the 6" does make you have to worry a little about height clearances. I had to get the stubbie antenna because my stock antenna was hitting every branch I drove by. The lift is definitely needed where I spend most of my time off road. There are a lot of washouts and stuff and ground clearance is a big issue, not just on the diffs, but all around. The 6" lift does create some axle wrap anf wheel hop, hence the reason why I want the traction bars. Besides that, I am completely happy with the lift. I can't really even notice a difference in how it drives on the highway. If anyone has the Pro Comp traction bars, please let us know how they worked out for you. Thank you.

Someone has got to have these traction bars right?
