Default Gas

Does anyone know if gas stations have switched to their winter formulas for gas yet? My gas mileage seems like it has taken a nose dive lately from about 19.5-20 to about 17.5-18. I compounded it by putting on new larger tires, but it dropped way before that.

Do your local stations use 10% ethanol in the mix?

What station do you use? It's possible they started getting gas from a different distributor now. Sometimes you just never know what you're getting for your money these days.

Not sure they have changed the gas over yet. Most likely your larger tires and colder temps are to blame. Little by little my mileage is slowy getting worse as the temps having been colder. Was getting 19.5 avg all summer, in the last month my tanks have been 19.1, 18.8 and 18.6 on the last one. Normal, and will continue to drop another mpg by mid winter.

I agree, my mileage has dropped about 1mpg on the last three tanks. I was getting 19.5mpg average all summer and now I'm at about 18.3mpg. None of the stations I fill up are running their 10% ethanol yet (they will very soon, and continue through winter). Like demoncleaner said, I attribute the loss due to colder temps and higher idling in the mornings.
